Our family of four, children aged 11 and 13, loved this house and this part of Italy! We stayed here for three weeks in July 2018, and we had a fantastic time!
Tuscany, and Italy in general, is a wonderful place to be on holiday. The weather is good, people are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxing and there are loads of things to see and do. The food and wine is a reason itself to go here.
The house is huge. Two kitchens, four bedrooms with their own bathrooms, four double beds and one single bed. A garden in the back of the house with a pool and a garden in front of the house with a hammock. You can sit outside on both sides, which makes it possible to always sit in the shade. The house is very well equipped. There was nothing we missed. The kitchens have everything you need. In addition to kitchen tools of all kinds, there are two fridges (with deepfreeze possibilities) and a dishwasher there. There was even some food and wine waiting for us when we arrived. Sun umbrellas and towels to bring to the beach. Books, some games, radio, TV, DVD-player. There is no cable TV, so the TV only works with the DVD-player.
There is a small shop just a short walk from the house where you can buy most of the things you need for everyday life. It is also very easy to stop in the Esselunga supermarket just outside Lucca on the way "home" at the end of the day. There you will find everything you need and good quality.
There are three restaurants in Coreglia Antelminelli. We preferred L'Arcille, the restaurant next to the church. We visited this restaurant several times during our stay, both for lunch and dinner. Really good food. We also went three times to the restaurant at the camping place, which also has good food.
If you stay in Tuscany, you will probably rent a car and drive around to see different places. Staying in Coreglia Antelminelli means that you will have to drive a bit more than if you stay in e.g. Lucca, but for us this worked out just fine. There are nice things to see in the "mountains" and valleys as well. The neighbouring town Barga is definitely worth a visit. The same applies for Bagni di Lucca and Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. There are plenty of wineries in the neighbourhood of Lucca. We can really recommend a guided tour at Fattoria Colle Verde. We had a fantastic day walking the canyon Orrido di Botri. A hidden gem that we are really happy to have discovered. The city of Lucca is wonderful, and the drive to the amazing city of Florence is not too long. Parking at Villa Constanza, where you can park along the highway and take the tram into the city, made the trip very easy. The beaches in Tuscany are great. Our favourite was Marina de Vecchiano.
Balazs is the perfect host. So much good information and advice on what to do and see, where to eat, where to buy food and wine. Quick replies to all of our questions. He met us at the car, helping us getting the luggage into the house. He did all he could to make us feel welcome. He knows so much about Italy and about the area. Our vacation would not have been the same without his advice.
We would highly recommend everyone to rent this beautiful house!
