Falls Lake (also known as 'cottage country') is located about 20 minutes from Ski Martock in the Annapolis Valley and about 60 minutes from Halifax. It's known as a four season vacation playground offering lake and ocean activities along with magnificent wild life and sightseeing. The Atlantic Ocean, Bay of Fundy, Ski Martock and 3 golf courses are all less than 30 minutes away. For nature lovers and wild life enthusiasts, the Lake has a number of active loon and kingfisher nests, hummingbirds, eagles, rabbits, deer, moose and an occasional sighting of the reclusive black bear.
The town of Windsor in the Annapolis Valley is approximately 25 minutes from Falls Lake, offering grocery stores, hospital, museums, an Irish pub, restaurants and all the amenities of a bustling town. The town has several attractions to appeal to young and old alike including the Waterslide, Aquatic Pool Center, Fort Edward Historic Site, Hockey Heritage Museum and Haliburton House Museum. While you're in town, stop by the local Spitfire Arms Alehouse which serves great pub fair and an impressive variety of international beers and live entertainment on the weekends. For finer dining, we recommend dinner at the charming Eat Bistro.
The Annapolis Valley is also home to dozens of world class vineyards, all of which offer vineyard tours, including Sainte Famille Vineyard in nearby Falmouth and many more Valley wineries such as Pete Luckett's, Muir Murray, Jost, Gaspereau, Grand Pré and Blomidon, just to name a few. (Designated driver recommended!) On the south shore of Nova Scotia, about 45 minutes in the other direction, you'll meet the Atlantic ocean and the historic towns of Chester, Mahone Bay and Lunenburg, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. For shoppers, sailors and beach lovers alike, the South Shore offers great boutique shopping, beautiful ocean vistas and the ever popular Hubbards & Queensland beaches. Enjoy day trips to Upper Clements Theme Park, Risers Beach, Kejimkujik National Park, Aylesford Zoo, New Ross Farm and the picturesque fishing community of Halls Harbour located on the shoreline of the Bay of Fundy, known for the highest tides in the world.
