Beyond expectations and perfect for young children
When we looked at cottages to book in Norfolk we stumbled upon The Bees Knees and I’m so glad we did. The reviews were so amazing we were almost sceptical, but everything they said and more was on offer. As we arrived and were greeted with the warmest welcome and most generous ‘welcome hamper’ we’ve ever had we knew we had made the right choice. Fresh homemade bread, scones, jam, eggs from the hens and local produce along with milk, butter, fruit, mineral water, cookies and topped off with chocolates and Prosecco meant we wanted for nothing on the first evening and so no panic to find the nearest open shop (which incidentally was only 5 minutes away and open) The gardens are phenomenal for young children with so much space to play and designated playground with swings, slide, climbing frame and playhouse right next to the hen’s coop and the busy duck pond. The gorgeous BBQ Hut is very cool and with various areas to sit and read, enjoy a drink, keep an eye on little ones flying kites or just watch the clouds roll by, we didn’t even need to go exploring further. However at only 6 minutes drive from Banham Zoo and 10 minutes drive from the towns of Diss and Attleborough there is no shortage of things to do and see locally. A cot was supplied alongside the 2 single beds and plenty bedding, plus so many little extras like baby monitor, nightlight, toddler step, toilet trainer seat, stair gate and high chair. Lots of toiletries and more ‘little extras’ than a 5 star hoteliers Tokyo! With an overflowing toy box and a neat but varied library, free WiFi, Sky TV and even Alexa I couldn’t think of anything missing if I tried! We loved The Bees Knees and can’t wait to return. To conclude I have only two words ‘Book It!’

Perfect weekend!
Such a perfect place to stay - I wish we had the time to stay longer. We stayed for 2 nights with our 2.5 year old son and our little baby girl - the cottage is very well equipped and super clean - we immediately felt like home - both kids and adults loved it! Alex and Dalene are excellent hosts - they thought of everything, literally everything a family with 2 little kids could wish for. Thank you again and I hope to see you soon!

Everything we hoped for (and more)
Just an awesome place to stay. Everything we could have needed for a fantastic stay. My wife and I stayed with our 2 young children and it was so nice to travel without having to think about travel cots, high chairs, baby monitors (etc.) as the bees knees had it all and more. The kids had an amazing time with the toys in the house, the fantastic play area in the garden and the fact we were just a few minutes drive to the zoo. But it wasn’t just the kids that loved it we had a great time too. So comfortable and relaxing that the only dissapointment is that we didn’t stay longer. As so many people have said Dalene and Alex really have thought of everything. Thank you!

Absolutely Perfect!
When I originally booked for us to stay at The Bee's Knees, I didn't really think that it could be as good as the reviews suggested - how wrong I was! Alex and Dalene really have thought of everything and we felt like we were staying in a home from home. Even my husband, who is rarely over-complimentary about anything, said that it was the best place we had ever stayed and that he wouldn't hesitate to return. Thank you very much for making us so welcome. We will be back.

Perfect stay
This cottage literally has everything you could possibly need and the welcome pack was so generous (orange juice, apple juice, butter, bacon, ham, milk, chocolates, prosecco, homemade bread, homemade scones, homemade jam, fruit). It was immaculate inside (and I am a massive germ freak!), the playground was lovely for the kids and they even left duck food so we could go feed the ducks in the mornings. Will definitely come back in the summer when we can go out and explore more

You couldn’t ask for anything more
Alex and Dalene have literally thought of everything. A home away from home in a stunning setting. This beautiful cottage is a great find and the welcome pack tops it off. Homemade scones and jam with clotted cream and a bottle of bubbles. What more could anyone ask for. We will definitely be back.

Perfection!
What a wonderful holiday cottage! I stayed at The Bees Knees with my wife and 2 young children back in August and to say we were delighted from the start, would be an understatement. We have stayed in many holiday cottages over the years, and i can honestly say this is the first time ever, that a cottage has supplied everything needed for a comfortable, relaxing, and peaceful getaway. Alex and Dalene have thought of it all. You even get a lovely welcome pack which includes a bottle of bubbles for us adults and freshly laid eggs for your first mornings breakfast. These touches really do make the difference. You can tell immediately from meeting Alex and Dalene, how much they care about the experience for us holiday makers. The cottage is well presented - it's very clean and the decor is modern and fresh. But it's not just the cottage.......the grounds are awesome too! An entire kids playing area, a large (gated) duck pond, well maintained gardens, huge lawned area with various seating, it goes on! We will be back, and we would highly recommend. Thank you for having us Alex & Dalene and apologies it took us so long to review! ;-)

Beautifully homely, clean and comfortable
We stayed in the cottage with our 3 year old son and I'm so glad we did! The location is great, very close to the zoo and lots of nice eating places (we would recommend The Inn on the Green who were very good with my sons allergies) as well as being quiet and remote. The cottage itself was so welcoming and amazingly clean. My son didn't want to come home. Alex and Darlene really have thought of everything from bath toys to children's plates, cutlery and night lights. On booking we asked if they had a stair gate which was the only thing they hadn't got but when we arrived they had bought one! They really do go out of their way to make your stay unforgettable. The casserole Darlene cooked us for our first night was delicious , the dumplings we're the best we have ever had and our 3 year old ate the lot. All the rooms have everything you could want for kids, black out blinds, travels cot, highchair, toys, dvds, toilet seat, books, changing mat which makes life so much easier. The gardens are amazing too, the new climbing frame which has a pirate ship theme was excellent for my little boy and even my husband! We enjoyed a hot chocolate in the outside seating area as well as feeding the ducks, 2 lovely black swans and the chickens. This is the first place I have stayed with our son that I can say we will definitely go back to...it was so stress free and just what we needed to get away from it all. The day we left Alex and Darlene gave my son a bee shaped gingerbread which was lovely personal touch....he is already asking to go back. Thanks Alex and Darlene

Wonderful holiday
Absolutely fantastic holiday cottage, felt like home within minutes. Beautiful gardens and surroundings with ducks and swans in the pond and few chickens. It can be as busy or quiet a holiday as you want. Great position for visiting most of Norfolk (I don't mind driving). Some great pubs for eating out close by, and Banham Zoo on the doorstep. Dalene and Alex are great hosts and as they said they can be as close or far as you need. The welcome pack consisted of some great home cooked treats and you could pretty much turn up and be happy with no shopping to do! If you want a to have a week doing nothing or plenty of day trips you won't be sorry to have chosen the Bees Knees!

Absolutely charming
We have just spent a week at The Bees Knees & what a treat that was! The cottage is so pretty & well presented & when I say you'll have everything you need, I mean everything! The gardens are stunning, with outdoor eating areas, hammock, very cosy barbecue hut & children's play area. Dalene & Alex are your very friendly hosts who will help you with anything you need plus you get to meet their furry family too (and what characters they are!) When you arrive, you receive a generous welcome pack of fresh produce (& chocolates! ) There's a local butcher's, delicatessen & takeaway or if you fancy eating out The White Lodge in Attleborough was very nice! Banham Zoo proved an excellent day out (not the cheapest ) but well worth it & only up the road! On Sunday morning's there's a carboot sale next to the zoo. Overall our first visit to Norfolk & The Bees Knees was fantastic, sad to leave but will definitely be back!
