I stayed in Casa Elena for night only on a business trip. It was announced to me by Romanians as being a very special hotel. It was the opposite:
the room was very far away from the restaurant house, which meant that you had to walk outside even if it was very cold and raining. Of course, they did not provide an umbrella or so.
The beds were horrible, the worst I found in many years of travelling. You could feel every single spring., this is how used the mattresses have been.
The bathroom was disgusting in some parts. On the floor, they had placed a bath mat which was laced with dirt. The shower was broken. The heating was always working on full power so you felt like being in a sauna. And which also meant that (also we had autumn time) I needed to leave the only window in the bedroom open in order to be able to sleep.
A propos sauna: the sauna would have cost an extra cost of 20 Lei. Nevertheless, I still wanted to use it. But after one hour when I was finally getting undressed, they told me it was broken.
The fitness room is only a thing to laugh about: one extremely old fitness bike and an even older bench. Both covered with dirt. And the room is down the cellar where the air smelled like hell.
In the restaurant they serve very expensive food, but not good food. My meat has been grilled to death, it tasted like a sole of a shoe.
So: choose again!! I could see much better and CHEAPER places in this area to stay in!
