Boating on your own in New York City?
I’m Volkmar from Germany and will be in NYC end of this summer. I’ve been there several times before (love the energy:)) and like to explore the city from the water this time (Hudson River / East River). I am searching for a motorboat rental where I can charter a small motorboat (< 35 feet, ideally <30 feet) for one day. Nothing luxury. Just a normal boat. The rental should of course be near enough to reach Manhattan.
After research I’m a bit astound that there seems to be no commercial charter companies for "normal" boats to drive on your own. The companies I found only offers huge luxury yachts including a captain. The only alternative I found was the peer-to-peer network www.boatbound.co which works similar to Airbnb. Are there really no other motorboat charter companies in NYC?
A second question:
In September here will be 71st Session of the UN General Assembly for two weeks. Will the East River be closed for boats during the debates in the UN head quarter?
Cheers from Germany
