The Magnolia House is Quintessential Southern Hospitality at its finest! From the moment we arrived Jennifer and Teri made us feel so welcome. The house is impeccably furnished and clean with luxury linens and given the extensive measures taken we felt very safe. A gourmet breakfast was served every morning, home cooked using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. The special blend coffee is the best!! We can't say enough about this B&B and a pleasant surprise was Frank's golf cart tour of the town. If you had to describe MH in one word; "PERFECT".

My wife and I have been married for 19 years and often chose to stay in bed and breakfasts because of the personal touches and hospitality that you do not get at hotels. In all of the bed and breakfasts we have stayed, the Magnolia House B&B outshined them all. The owners and staff went above and beyond to give us a special experience away from home. The home was renovated to protect as much of the history and character of the home as possible with objects of owners throughout the history of the house in the various rooms. The food was excellent. Several breakfast courses and a lovely wine and cheese tray in the afternoons. We loved the emphasis on North Carolina products. The beds provided an extremely comfortable rest at night. The bathroom in the Roe Suite was impeccable with a large shower, double vanity and soaking tub. This suite also has a private sitting area to read or watch tv. Every morning we descended the stairs to find the most interesting table seating of unique china tableware and glassware. It made eating the amazing delicious breakfast elegant and fun. Amenities include a golf cart tour with the owner Frank (which was an added bonus that made Oriental come alive in a way that can’t happen as a tourist passing through), access to bikes, snacks throughout the day, and seats under the namesake magnolia to enjoy part of the day. The weekend was not enough time. We lamented not being able to stay longer. And we are already planning our next stay. We hardly ever write reviews for trip advisor but felt like we had to on this property.

This was the perfect place to spend our anniversary! The gourmet breakfasts were absolutely amazing. We loved the local cheeses and wine in the afternoons. The attention to detail is fabulous. We highly recommended this B&B... you will not find a warmer, more accommodating owner and manager.

My wife and I wanted to get away for our 20-year anniversary. Of course the Covid-19 situation curtailed a lot of our plans but we decided to drive 2 hours out to Oriental and stay here. What a beautiful and rewarding experience it turned out to be! Jennifer and Teri really went out of their way to welcome us even though we were the only guests the entire weekend! The details and decor are wonderful and every space in the house has a story behind it. Frank gave is a fantastic tour of the town and everyone is so friendly and down to earth! Breakfast was also another feature that really won us over! Stuffed blueberry french toast, fresh fruit and salad greens, Baked Parmesan eggs, fruit smoothies! The china and place settings are also something to see! Also, all of their food is locally-sourced! In the afternoons, they serve hors d'oeuvres and various wine selections that are rare finds. They also have bikes for you to borrow and ride around townThere is also a sherry, port, and brandy service that is always available in the parlor. We stayed in the Roe suite which has been meticulously appointed and is warm, inviting and very comfortable. Another thing that was truly impressive was how well they are dealing with the 'social distancing' and cleanliness procedures brought on with the Covid-19 virus- If you are at all apprehensive with travelling, the actions they take to keep everything sanitized, wearing of PPE, and food prep/serving procedures will astound you and rest assured every precaution is being taken at this establishment! very impressive! If you are looking for a quiet, historic, well-maintained out of the way B&B this is it! Magnolia House in Oriental, NC is truly one of the best B&B's I've ever stayed at, and we look forward to returning many times in the future! Thank you again Jennifer, Teri, and Frank for a wonderful time!

Full disclosure: I am a resident of Oriental and am acquainted with the owners. However, this has not influenced my thoughts or review. Stayed here for one night for a Valentine's Day getaway. Was greeted warmly by the property manager, Teri, and given a tour of the property. Formerly a large single-family house (built around the turn of the last century), the owners did a complete overhaul and first-quality renovation of the interior and exterior to turn it into a B&B. The first floor is devoted to common areas, a living/sitting room, entrance foyer, and dining room. All are elegantly appointed with antique furnishings and vintage photographs/artwork of the area. Also, with this being Valentine's Day, small decorations (some vintage) were just about everywhere. The entrance foyer also has a variety of brochures about things to do in Oriental. They host a "happy hour" every afternoon with light hors d'oeuvres and wine in the dining room. Upstairs are the four rooms/suites, each able to accommodate two people (who share a bed). We stayed in the "Roe Suite", which has a sitting room (with TV) and a separate bedroom (it also has a "secret" back stairway entrance). Very comfortable rooms and super-comfortable (moderately high) bed. Bathroom is very large and very well-appointed, with a large multi-head/multi-pattern shower (with a labeled temp control valve, no less!), clawfoot tub and two sinks. Bath amenities are first quality. Water pressure is excellent. Breakfast was no less than outstanding! The morning of our stay, the owner, Jennifer, and Teri bowled us over with toasted pound cake with (heart-shaped!) butter and preserves, soft-boiled eggs, blueberry French toast, and country ham. And their coffee (their own special blend from a local roaster) is excellent! Teri and Jennifer are excellent hosts, knowledgeable and helpful, but absolutely non-intrusive. We only saw them when we first arrived, when Teri invited us to help ourselves to the happy hour spread (describing everything) and made sure we had everything we needed, and the next morning at breakfast. Overall, a truly wonderful (and rare) experience. I whole-heartedly recommend Magnolia House for a stay in Oriental. It may not be the least expensive alternative, but it does provide a great value for your lodging dollar. And don't miss sitting out under that huge illuminated magnolia tree!
