Excellent dinner, terrific breakfast, rustic room and a good sleep even though I made a last minute reservation. The restaurant and lobby are delightfully appointed with a mountain river feel. I loved the paint by numbers art.

Booked this motel for a few day fishing trip with my wife. Reviews and pictures looked good. The motel looks like the owners had some big plans and got started on them but ran short of cash or time. Driving up it looks like a motel from the old west. Weeds, dust, old paint and a garbage dumpster in the corner of the front lot. If fixed up and maintained it would be welcoming and nostalgic looking. The rooms are accessed from a porch that runs in front of the rooms. Access is a keypad that you get the code via AirBnB the day before arrival. There is no check in person. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and got access to the room at 3 pm. The room is pretty large but full of stuff. Two big leather arm chairs ( that were comfortable to sit in) a big steamer trunk being used as a night table next to the bed. Another trunk or something like it that had an old record player on it and a queen sized bed. The bed was comfortable and the blankets, sheets and pillows were comfortable. The walls were adorned with a deer head, multiple antlers, framed pictures from the 50's and a 48 star US flag. The big problem for me was there was absolutely no place to put your clothes. There was a coat stand but no dresser or closet of any kind and no luggage stand or any flat place (other than the middle of the floor) to put an open suitcase. Because the room only had a window facing the porch there were canvas sheets(curtains?) on the window that were nailed to the frame on one side and only opened a little anyway. You couldn't really leave them open because anyone walking down the walkway would be looking right into the room. Some kind of sheer curtain would be useful because with the curtain closed the room was very dark and gloomy. The A/C unit kept the room cool but had a rattle that was annoying. The bathroom was older style but clean. The linens and soap products were good quality but the water pressure literally dribbled out of the shower head.
The restaurant and bar are only open Friday thru Sunday. The lobby area of the restaurant served as a lounge for the motel guests and was comfortable and had coffee and tea available anytime. Continental breakfast was available but we were out fishing before it was put out so I can't comment on it.
There are plenty of tables and chairs outside to sit on and a fire ring for cooler nights but the grass/weeds hadn't been cut for awhile and were over your ankles.
My impression from the website and map was that the Beaverkill river was right across the street and accessible for fishing. It is right across the street but not accessible. The river was probably 30 feet below the road and there is no place nearby to get to the river.
It was a disappointing experience.
The restaurant and bar are only open Friday thru Sunday. The lobby area of the restaurant served as a lounge for the motel guests and was comfortable and had coffee and tea available anytime. Continental breakfast was available but we were out fishing before it was put out so I can't comment on it.

I loved this motel. I visited with six friends and we basically had all the rooms to ourselves all weekend, and it was lovely. The rooms are designed with a fun retro vibe, with vintage accoutrements and in one room a record player (and no televisions!) The shower was huge and the products were all by Public Goods. We had dinner at the motel one night and I really enjoyed the pretzel, broccoli cheese soup and the Impossible pot pie. The common area was perfect for our late night game night. Get Room #3 if you can: it’s huge!
The only downside was that the walls are very thin. You will definitely hear what goes on in the rooms next to you. In this case the person next door was a friend, so it didn’t bother me. But it might bother me if a loud stranger was next door.

Red Rose is me and my wife’s go to place to stay in the Catskills! Super easy check in, cozy private rooms, bar and tavern have great food, drinks, and a fire place, great breakfast in the morning (including options for dietary restrictions), and rooms are reasonably priced.... But the best thing about Red Rose is the wonderful welcome and hospitality provided by the co-owner Melissa. A wealth of knowledge that she is more than happy to share on anything and everything western Catskills. We are always greeted with a huge smile and great conversation. This place RULES!
