I’m just back from the Sandy Maria Hotel, Tsilivi, Zante. Already booked to go back! Giannis and Trudi really made us feel very welcome and looked after. The people we met during our holiday just made the whole experience amazing. There were some really awkward moments among the family who run the hotel and it became common knowledge that if the Wife or her Father showed up, there was definitely going to be a “showdown” but after things calmed down, we were able to relax more.
That aside, clean, basic Greek apartments that had enough to throw a quick pasta or bacon and eggs together but why would you want to. We go self catering to get the fridge and cupboards to store our bits and bobs. Eating out is much cheaper than buying in anyway. Prices have almost doubled in the last 5 years but the Euro and cost of living is to blame, not the people who work tirelessly to cater for us tourists who (let’s face it, can be very needy, demanding and over expecting depending on how we view things!). If you’re going out to Greece, budget €150 per day. We spent an extra €1000 which was quite unexpected and we didn’t eat at fancy restaurants every day. Papas place and Courser Chinese were amazing tho!!!
We did hire a car for 4 days and went to Banana beach twice as it’s spectacular, warm and safe to swim with a lifeguard present. Drinks ordered and served to you on your loungers and a bar restaurant with fab facilities 150yds from the sea!
We are going back, the whole family and we have booked to meet up with the rest of the wonderful people we met there. Can’t wait.

This place would be great if it was updated. Great location about a 10 minute walk into town. The rooms are very basic Greek type rooms. Need a very good clean and new mattress and pillows as they was very hard and stained and the sheets didn't really fit the beds and was very used. Bathroom needs to be cleaned better as it was bad in places.
Yannie is amazing he cannot do enough for you he basically runs that place alone. As previous review the arguing in front of guests needs to stop as it is loud and nasty. Pool area is good, never struggled to get a sun bed and some do need to be replaced. The food at the bar is nice and reasonable priced drinks. Bar closes at 2am music finishes at midnight but it continues to be loud.
Get plenty of mozzi spray for your self and the room as it was really bad for bugs and bites. Supermarkets round the corner sells plenty.
Get 1 electric hob and kettle and basic cutlery 2 plates 2 cups 2 glasses. NO bottle opener, tin opener etc.

Having a good time here. Yannis, Jodie and the cleaner are just awesome and can’t do enough for guests. Was going to book for next year and bring the grandchildren but the daily arguing and fighting between the family in front of every guest is despicable and upsetting. We can’t bring children into such intimidating and aggressive verbal exchanges. From banging around, shouting, a small child of the family crying because of the fighting. It’s putting guests off being in the bar area. The guests during our first week have made the holiday! Good vibes until the father or wife arrive then the awful atmosphere hits. And still, Yiannis keeps a smile for his customers who have paid for a break away. Greek people are awesome and passionate about most things but please, please, not in front of the guests. So, so sad. Even scared to approach the bar to order.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Said 2 star but didn't warrant a 1. The hotel was filthy with no sign on being dusted or mopped and the toilet was beyond disgusting. The taps were green and mould was everywhere. The noise from the bar area went on untill the early hours and the music got louder as the night went on. The sunbeds were so old that the metal bars protruded. 1 day no water then next only cold water, 3rd day no water again then last morning no water or electricity. This hotel needs a major overhaul before anyone should stay. The owner seemed friendly at first but if you didn't eat or drink in his bar and participate in the night entertainment then his manner changed.

Well yet again this hotel just gives more and more .Such a warm welcome not only from owners but guests as well . New member of staff Trudi a real star , good asset to the hotel. Nothing to much trouble here , you want it they can help with it .Honestly don't go by bad negative reviews as I said before this hotel is a 2 star family run hotel , not a swanky 4 star commercialy run place . Good old basic clean family orientated friendly hotel .Keep up the good work .
