do you have parking for our auto, and do you have a room with a balcony, or sea view for the nites of october 10 and 11, merci, nicolas
Hi Nicolas, we did not have a car either, and there is certainly no parking on offer at the front of the hotel, as it is right on the main road. However, there are several side streets around the hotel that may suffice. You would need to check this with Thierry, one of the owners of the hotel. And as to how street parking is policed and charged. He may have another option for you too. You can contact Thierry via their website.
We had room no 9 at the front corner on the second floor, and had small views of the sea and cap ferrat. The windows are double-glazed and we really only heard the traffic noise, if we had the window open. The bar downstairs was fairly quiet when we were there in Nov 2014, so I doubt that will worry you.
We really enjoyed staying high on the hill at La Regence, and enjoyed the ambience in the downstairs bar, where many locals used to call in for a drink or a chat. Thierry and his mother Betty are great hosts and I'd definitely recommend a stay at this hotel, which is very affordable compared to The Welcome Hotel down on the quay. It's also in a great location, being right on the bus route for Nice and Monte Carlo. You won't be sorry you stayed here!
Also, venture a few doors down to Le Roxy Cafe, where the owner/chef Gerald & his lovely partner Elisabeth run a good old-fashioned hospitable restaurant. Great prices & delicious home-cooked food. Viva the Monzano Liqueur too!
Sorry, I didn't have a car either so I am not sure about that. I agree with the above writer. La regence is halfway up the side of the hill in Villefranche and right on a small, but main road, with buses and motorcycles. I stayed in one of the side rooms facing a building and forewent and view for a quieter room, which I was very satisfied with. If you want to be on the water there is the Welcome Hotel down by the bay, but I hear they are quite expensive and the accomodations need updating. The main attraction of La Regence is it's authenticity to being so very French, led mainly by it's proprietess, Betty, who is so wonderful she should be the main reason you stay there. Viva la France, Betty! I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again just to be part of the village and experience real life in a small French town the way it's meant to be. Best of luck!
Hi, Nicolas -- when we visited La Regence, we didn't have a car, so I don't know what arrangements they have for vehicles. The hotel is charming, and the owners are outstanding people; however, the hotel is set a little farther up from the water. If you get a room overlooking the street, you will have a sea view; you will also have a bit more noise, although this didn't mar our stay and we were in a front room with a view to the sea. Hope this helps, and enjoy.
