Sadly the Pumpkin patch was a big disappointment for us this year.
£4 entry so £20 for a family of 5 plus booking. We felt this was overpriced when all you’ve actually paid for is to walk into a small field with minimal Halloween decorations and hardly any decent pumpkins.
The pumpkins were also very expensive - almost three times the price of one you’d buy in the supermarket and no better quality.
We did visit the cafe to extend our visit (given the pumpkin patch took all of 10mins) which was pleasant but again quite pricey.
Over £60 spent for less than hour; unfortunately we did not feel this was value for money and won’t be returning in future years.

We came to pick our pumpkins last year, and it was a good family afternoon out, but this year was terribly disappointing in comparison. The “patch” was tiny compared to last year, and the choice of pumpkins wasn't as good.
It definitely wasn’t worth the ticket price. We were there a grand total of 10 minutes, because the patch was that small and there was nothing to do, compared to last year when we spent a good couple of hours!

We heard from our friends about this garden and saw the pics, so we were very excited to visit. Drove for an hour on a hot day in August, reached there, huge parking space. Entered and reached the lavender field to see lavenders in very bad state, mostly dried. The field was looking so dry that it looked like a desert land. Then we went to the sunflower field, and we felt a bit relieved as they were looking so good. Food was a bit costly, and even the craze of lavender ice cream wasn't that exciting either.

Nice field. Unfortunately, the day we went, most of the flowers were in a bad state. Either way, it looked nice. I feel like it would have been so beautiful when the flowers are fully bloomed.

An amazing experience at Hitchin lavender this summer. It was an amazing sensory experience and I can’t believe how beautiful it is ! The staff working here are lovely and the little gift shop is great too. Would recommend the lavender lemonade, it was delicious. 🍶

Lovely visit here. The sunflowers were coming to the end of the season but still really stunning. I will need to come back another time to see the lavender at its best but it smelled fabulous. I had a sourdough toastie and lavender earl grey tea in the cafe, which was fantastic. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a visit. Good for the soul!

We visited Hitchin Lavender for a nice morning out and found it pleasant but also a bit disappointing.
The field of lavender was lovely to look at, but it could have done with some information boards actually in the field along side the lavender with descriptions of what types we were looking at; this would have made it much more interesting. There was a poorly sighted information board near the entrance, but we only spotted this on the way out and it was hard to tie up what we had seen with what was in the field.
The "museum" was very poorly lit and not well sign posted, we didn't realise it was the museum at first, and had no information that we could see what so ever on what we were looking at to give context or historical interest.
The cafe and shop area were also quite dark.
However the staff were polite and helpful and the cake was good, and it was nice to be out in the fresh air.
It was an inexpensive morning out, but all in all it was only worth about and hour and half of our time before we had exhausted our options.
Just a few improvements to the information provided on site would have greatly enhanced our visit.

Lavender galore! Walking in between rows and rows of gorgeous lavender blooms was honestly, dreamy and romantic. Buzzing bees from tiny cute ones to fairly large ones which I would normally run from didn’t scare me at all. It was a happy zone. The lovely purples and greens were lovely splashed against the backdrop of blue skies and puffy white clouds. We purchased tickets online, however, walk-ins easily bought them as they came in. There are toilets near the entrance, a cafe and a shop with a range of lavender products. Beautiful sunflowers are also grown to the right of the farm. My advice is to iG them (as I did) prior to your visit just to reconfirm harvesting dates to avoid disappointment. And bring your tripod for specific background shots. Staff were friendly, overall an afternoon of delight.

I'm totally captivated by the pictures and would love to visit. We're planning to be in Hitchin in the first week of this March, is it a good time to visit this place?

It is indeed £6 per adult and under 14's £3, but it is a great experience and the brown paper bag you get enables a fair bit of lavender to be collected. It was very relaxing and also addictive, you just want to keep cutting. We have some dried out in vases and have taken the seeds off others to use in different ways. Of course the best time to go is when the lavender is in full bloom. There is lots more to see and do on the site, so well worth a visit even if you don't cut lavender.

I’m planning to visit on 23 August. Will there still be lush lavender and sunflower to visit?
Verfasst am 16. August 2018
I think the lavender will be gone now sure about the sunflowers it depends how many have been cut. Maybe drop them an email.

Can we simply use the tea rooms without paying the £5 entry fee?
Verfasst am 28. Juli 2018
Yes. You can also visit the shop, museum and display area.
You only pay to go to the picking area.

I am so excited to visit but i read on the website there will be £50 charge for portraits photos on the field. So does this mean professional portraits only or any type of photos with my iPhone for me and my friends? It’s a crucial point tbh please anyone have an idea?
Thank you

It is just professional photographers so as long as you don't turn up in your wedding cloths with 1000K of photographic equipment you are fine. I can see why they wish to limit this for the enjoyment of other visitor.

Is evening time best to visit your garden especially Saturday evening. Are sunflowers in bloom as well to make the visit fantabulous.?
Verfasst am 18. Juli 2018
They will not be open on Saturday evening. They close at 5pm everyday except for Tuesday and Friday, at which they close at 9pm. You can check their Facebook to see updates on what is in bloom.
