This was a fascinating place to visit, with lots to see and do. We visited slightly out of season, so some of the exhibits were being refurbished, but there was still plenty to keep us occupied for a good 4-5 hours. Particularly enjoyed seeing the Suffolk Punch horse and foal, and the collection of historical buildings dotted around the estate.

We recently attended the Food Museum for a wedding. It was perfect. The wedding was outside and the marquee was there for food and shelter from the sun. In the evening we danced the night away in the barn.
The facilities are lovely and the staff are really friendly. If you are looking for a wedding venue in stowmarket this is a hidden gem.
Thank you to all the staff for being so attentive and helpful.
This venue is about 80 acres of land you can walk around right in the heart of Stowmarket and. You can visit at anytime. The entrance is just opposite Asda.
In the grounds are shire horses, turkeys and goats and much more for your children to look at and feed.

Recently, we attended the Food Museum's 'Summer Evening Sharing' event and had a great time. The first thing that stood out was the warm and helpful staff who went above and beyond to assist us in acquiring gifts from their charming museum shop, even though it was closed.
The dinner took place in the Feast cafe, beautifully set out with tablecloths and candles, making the most of the late summer light and creating a magical ambiance.
However, the real star of the evening, was the delicious locally sourced food, generously provided and with an offer of a doggy bag for leftovers if you couldn't finish the amazing selection of fruit, veggies, bread, crackers, meats, and cheeses.
It was a great opportunity to relax and catch up with my friend, and the value - which included a drink, a feast AND pudding - was excellent.
The only thing that could have made it better would have been to bring my PJs to roll straight into bed due to an extremely full tummy, but that might be a step too far. They are thinking about hosting more of these, so do keep an eye out on their website.

So expensive for a walk around a farm - hardly any animals, and most of the places indicated on their map at the entrance were marked as private when we walked around such as the Victorian kitchen and the horses. It would be a nice place for a walk, but not for £45 for a family of 4. We got a years entry but I don’t think we would return.

This amazing place full of interesting machinery artefacts and History was fabulous from the time we arrived to the time we left
Welcome from a lovely friendly knowledgeable young lady called Eva! Her welcome was warm and very welcoming certainly a credit to the museum. We wandered had a lovely coffee and spoke then to the Events manager who was friendly interesting and had a great sense of humour! Food tasting was very good and the information surrounding it factual but presented in an interesting way. On we went and met a man who was busy working and he spoke to us by the medieval house and again knowledgable and interesting so friendly too. Entrance is for a yearly pass and we shall be going again. We only touched the sides with acres more to explore! Dogs welcome, children lots to see, do and space to run about!
Thank you Suffolk food museum we will be back and we are looking forward to it already! It’s a shame I can only give it 5 stars it’s worth so many more.

Unfortunately, despite the sound of this museum it didn't live up to expecations. Very little to do with food itself, most of what we saw just looked abandoned and overgrown.
The cafe whilst being very clean and tidy with friendly the food plate that I ordered was lack lustre

Awful food .
Soggi wrap and awful mozzarella. They saw I left it and I said why and didn’t offer a refund,
Very dry scones , it was busy and the staff were nice . Shame the garden has gone down hill, very scruffy,

It has rebranded itself as a food museum, but in reality it is still 97% The Museum of East Anglian Life - buildings, farm machinery, animals, pretty well everything. The site is over 80 acres and you wander from building to building. There was no single central collection or space that unifies. Yes, you could argue that the only purpose of farming is food production, but there is very little emphasis on food, the end product. And what there is is traditional English food as produced on East Anglian farms. The cafe closes an hour before the museum site does - that was disappointing. The "40 Farms" travelling photographic exhibition was excellent.

Given that the majority of the attraction is outside I was impressed by the level of accessibility. The main house has a modern lift and there is a golf kart available.
