This review is for the Mozart and Friends at the Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall. We attended the performance on a Sunday. Got the parking garage pass for $20, with the promise we are guaranteed a spot. Turned out the garage was so empty, apparently for a small venue, people must have got here via mass transit.
It was easy to get to the hall from the elevator. Even after the performance was over, we did not wait long to take the elevator back down. For the 7 pm performance, seating started at 6:40 pm. The venue is very intimate, which is perfect for chamber music. We thoroughly enjoyed the program. It was put together very well by Sound Salon.
We really enjoyed the musicians: violinist Eduardo Rio, cellist Nathan Chan, and pianists Joseph Williams, and Byron Schenkman.
The hall is beautiful, adorned with two enormous chandeliers >>> "Crystal Cascade," clearly by the glass genius, Dale Chihuly. One disappointment was we arrived a little bit early, hoping to get something to drink. We found NONE of the shops or cafes in the main corridor was open for business.
They did offer some drinks once you scan your tickets and be admitted inside. Not many chairs for sitting, the restrooms are located inside as well.

Interesting building, Very modern and pared back interior, obviously for the acoustics. Good seating, although we were in the third tier, still had a good view. We Happened to be here on holiday when the Orchestra were playing the Disney celebration. Very good although personally we found the Film distracted from the orchestra, even if it was a specially produced film by Disney. Orchestra and conductor very good.

I planned a return trip entirety around the Stewart Copeland Seattle Symphony concert this month and I wasn't disappointed.
The first concert I saw here was Bugs Bunny on Broadway, and I've been coming back when I can during visits.
It's wonderful to see the city in the normal groove once more. And being in this venue certainly showed it, the crowd was a sellout.
Some beautiful glass sculptures by local son Dale Chihuly add to the atmosphere. If you can manage to visit when you're in The Emerald City, do so!

We spend a few months each year, living in Seattle, and Benaroya Hall is one of our favorite places to go. Home to the Seattle Symphony, this Downtown building also hosts other groups in both its 2,479-seat S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium and the 536-seat Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall. I can attest to the fact that the Auditorium offers excellent acoustics, superb sight lines and comfortable seats. But our most recent visit in November took us to the Recital Hall for a performance by Casa Pata Flamenco from Spain. The Recital Hall offers the same features as the Auditorium but in a more intimate setting on the second floor.
The show, titled "Raiz de 4," featured two dancers, a guitarist and a percussionist. All proved to be superb, especially the male dancer, Rafael Peral. I have never seen such footwork, even in Spain, where I lived for a while and often went to flamenco performances. This production was typical of the consistently excellent offerings that I have attended at Benaroya Hall.
But performances and lectures by notables are not the only draws at the Hall. The modern structure, which opened in 1998, holds some outstanding artwork. My favorite is "Crystal Cascade," a sculpture by glass artist Dale Chihuly, which consists of two 3-ton chandeliers, each suspended from opposite ends of the block-long corridor at the front of the building. Visitors can enter this section of Benaroya Hall to see Chihuly's work or stop at a coffee kiosk whenever the building is open. They can also take one of the infrequent, free public tours of the Hall, which present an opportunity to see some of the other artwork without attending a performance. With so many changes in Seattle because of COVID-19, however, I recommend checking on-line or calling to learn if there are restrictions in effect for entering the building.
Though many parking garages exist nearby, we never take our car Downtown, because of heavy traffic. Buses stop directly in front of the building and Sound Transit light rail has a stop below the Hall at University Street Station. Restaurants abound close-by. I especially like Wild Ginger, which specializes in Southeast Asian cuisine, and is located next door at 3rd and Union.

Seriously not a single bad seat in the entire place. My seats for Brandi Carlile with the symphony were up on the 3rd floor near the very back and the sound and views were still great up there. I liked the unexpected social space in the main lobby to mingle, eat, drink before entering the actual venue. Once inside there were plenty of bars that moved fast an were staffed with hilarious, friendly people. I hope to find more events to attend here on future visits to this city.

This concert hall is just beautiful with excellent acoustics. For this visit we were there to hear Brandi Carlile with the Seattle Symphony. The sound is so alive here that Brandi and the twins did an unplugged song which was fantastic.
Every person I dealt with from ordering tickets and parking to the folks manning the entrances were friendly and helpful. A really great experience attending concerts at Benaroya Hall.

After a couple of concerts this past year Benaroya Hall has now become one of my favorite places to go.
Love the ambience with the chandeliers and cafes and most of all the amazing music that made my year a whole lot better.

Attended a recent Sunday Christmas concert with the Seattle Mens' Chorus which was great! But...when we first arrived at Benaroya, as we often do, we pre-ordered two glasses of wine to pick up at a table during intermission. After ordering, the bartender turned a computer screen toward me and asked me just to sign, which I did. While he was entering my order into the computer, I left a cash tip in the jar on the counter. When we arrived home in Bremerton, my email receipt showed that I had been charged a $3.45 tip. I have no idea how that tip got added to my charges. So on Monday I called Benaroya and left a voicemail message with Benaroya administration expressing my concern. I never got a return call! My bank has refunded me the $3.45 on my credit card, but I'm seriously unhappy with the lack of customer service from Benaroya. And I'd still like to know how that tip made its way to my card.

Benaroya Halll, its sound, the orchestra that plays there and its history are all worth the trip. It is a light rail station, a memorial for soldiers who died serving this country and a stand alone building whose clever design protects the two auditoria from the sound of airplanes above and trains below.

I want to sit on the keyboard side. What are the letters corresponding to seats on that side?

What is the best seat for viewing the singer? This will probably be my last concert go that I can see so would love to be able to be close. Thanks

What is generally the best section for tickets to the movie/Symphony events? Preferably the $92 tickets.
Verfasst am 9. September 2017
I prefer stage left (facing the stage) for all symphonies as that is typically where the soloist stands/sits. You do not want the first three rows across the front of the stage, all sections, you are only going to see the musicians feet.
I would consider getting seats from row Q back, try to sit closer to the main aisle if you are in the side sections. Enjoy every moment of this beautiful theater.
Buy a Benaroya parking ticket for ANY event. It is worth it to know you will have a parking space and not drive around trying to find one, especially as this lot is typically full. Please note: IF you have a parking ticket and the sign says lot full, please still enter the parking garage and show you ticket to the attendant at the bottom of the ramp. Enjoy!!

What is the actual address or street/cross street info for picking up guests that have been to a concert at Benaroya. We have a driver picking us up after an event.
Verfasst am 18. November 2016
3rd Ave. and Union St. Every driver in Seattle knows this.

The actual address and is there parking?
Verfasst am 10. April 2016
Yes, Benaroya hall has its own parking. Typically if you buy parking with the ticket package it is cheaper but if you haven't you can still buy it there. They typically allow you 1-2 hours extra time after the show is over to be able to go around in the downtown. The actual address is 200 University St, Seattle, WA 98101
