We were a bit concerned after reading many negative reviews but took a chance.
It was a delightful day.Plenty of animals to see-Jethro ,the giraffe, was a big hit. The area is mostly shaded which was nice.My husband had a mobility scooter and had no difficulty maneuvering the unpaved bumpy areas.
There were family activities-included in the admission fee. Face painting, donut eating contest, smores over a campfire, scavenger hunt, find a pumpkin and were all fun. Considering the extra fees they could have charged, we found the admission price to be reasonable.
The staff was helpful and friendly.
It is not state of the art , by any means, but certainly not deplorable like some visitors insinuated. It could use some updating -especially the reptile building which was quite foul smelling. Overall, it is a rustic atmosphere which was fine with us.
Would return.

The enclosures for every single animal is beyond inadequate. The 2 lions enclosure was so small there is no way this is humane. Every enclosure has bolder sized rocks and not one enclosure was even close the animals natural habitat. If I had known this place was as bad as it was there would have been no way I would have given my money to support it staying open. There was hundreds of people going through their doors and all the money they were making is clearly not going towards looking after these animals. Claws N Paws should be closed and the animals taken to ethical sanctuaries that actually care about the animals and not about getting people through their doors and making money. Please if anyone reading this has a conscious and cares about animal welfare do not go the Claws N Paws because it is actually heart breaking and soul destroying seeing every animal live in the hovels they call enclosures.

Good small zoo with shady trails. My daughter fed the parrots, which was super fun. Took about 2.5 hours to see everything.

This zoo has a few beautiful things about it. The thing I liked is that you can get really close to the animals. Besides for being able to feed some animals, you can touch the giraffe, you can mingle with playful tortoises and walk into the cage that has deer and goats. Another thing is that the cages are pretty close to each other which means there is not a lot of walking. And lastly, we went on a hot day and it was very comfortable because the path is mostly in the shade.

I went here with my family today, and it was a terrible experience. We ended up feeling depressed and leaving early. My son was upset and couldn't understand why the animals were living in these conditions. There were river otters in a tiny little hovel, two panicked looking bears who had just arrived. None of the animals had adequately sized or maintained enclosures. They didn't all have indoor space to retreat to. They had captive beavers and foxes and otters and ground hogs and hawks and vultures. What's the point of that? These animals live in the wild here. The big cats did not have enough space. None of the animals looked well nourished. I could see the male lion's spine. I've read many reviews on Facebook in which people worry what will happen to the animals if the place is closed (it has many many violations of the Animal Welfare Act against it). There are many good animal sanctuaries in America, some accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries. These best thing for these animals is to find their way to sanctuaries and zoos where they will be better cared for. It was upsetting to see all these animals kept this way. I'm sure the people at Claws N Paws are trying to do their best, but their best is not good enough. If I had known how disturbing my family and I would find Claws N Paws, I would have taken my tourist dollars elsewhere. Unfortunately, our visit today helped keep Claws N Paws in business, and it really shouldn't be.

Much of the grounds are under tree cover which was awesome since it was pretty hot when we went. Watch your feet though because some of the paths are a bit rocky. Decent selection of animals and (For a fee) options to interact with some of them. We fed the Lorys and had a ball. Give yourself 3-4 hours to fully cover everything.

We had a great experience with up close encounters with the animals here. There's a big variety of animals. They have a petting zoo where you can go in with the goats, lambs to feed them but you need quarters for the machine and then you can feed the turtles for a fair price, you can feed the parrots apple slices and you can also feed the giraffe Jethro who is super sweet for a fair price . The staff is super friendly and care alot about the animals and there health and care. Everyone has to remember we live in the mountains so it's rock and dirt pretty much everywhere up here lol. If you wanted grass and everything to smell like flowers everywhere you should of gone to the garden center then lol not a zoo period. But if you want to go to a zoo I definitely highly recommend coming here. It's worth it and the kids will love it.

Used to go to this zoo every year while growing up but I wish I never returned. The conditions the animals are living in is upsetting. Some exhibits are fine but the lack of enrichment and normal plant life is sad. It’s just dirt and rock everywhere.
Feeding the birds is fun but this place needs some serious renovations and exhibit updates. exhibits are far too small for these animals it’s really cruel.

My husband, aunt and I were all
blown away by all of the amazing animals at this park. We were so impressed by being able to see the lions, bobcats, otters, badger, giraffe, snow leopard, cheetahs, mountain lions etc up close and personal. We especially loved feeding the friendly giraffe for a small fee. We loved him! The park was well kept, clean and easy to navigate. It exceeded our expectations and was the highlight of our trip. Loved it!

Web site still shows May 1st, weather permitting. The weather has been nice lately, if not today, so I guess they opened. Best to call.

I saw someone feed the giraffe when there is a clear sign not to do it. Can there be signs in 2 other languages so people refrain from feeding animals?

I have been here many times but can't remember if you have Otters?
Verfasst am 3. Mai 2017
Yes. There were two otters. One was sleeping. The other was doing the swim and flip and dive routine much to my four year old son's delight.
It looked like one of the otters had a skin condition or injury. Poor little guy. I hope he/she heals up well.

Is there a food court or restaurant?
Verfasst am 27. Juni 2016
There is really no restaurant. Just a snack area. This park isn't that big but has a lot of animals. Suggest eating before getting there or just get something quick there.

You may want to give them a call. Depending on what you will be traveling with (wheelchair etc) this is a tricky place. There are alot of tree roots that stick up etc. I remember it even being a challenge with a toddler and a stroller.
