Used to love coming here and would always have a great day but recent visits have gone downhill. Hardly any cars going down the strip, food poor quality and overpriced, rude staff, lack of communication.

Utterly Brilliant. What great fun indeed. The whole package of sound, noise, the smell of fuel and burnt rubber. the pure excitement. What a fantastic day out

There are three things which could make this place and the events excellent. 1. Entry arrangements (one lane into 4 and back into one really doesn't work). 2. More toilets (and regularly cleaned) and finally 3. Staff attitude (at least don't inflict your bad day on everyone else).

Firstly, I had a great time as I have done at the last 16/17 years I’ve visited Santa Pod specifically for Bugjam.
It’s clear that there is investment every year in the site. Toilets, grandstand seating, food options improve on an annual basis.
The site is clean and secure. Staff friendly but keep in mind food is pricey but no more than other festivals/events in the UK.
Only couple of downsides are that kestrel beer is awful. I appreciate it’s a sponsor so there’s not a lot they can do but there’s a reason why most major pub chains and supermarkets don’t stock it…
The other downside is more at Bugjam itself rather than the site. Really poor music acts for headliners this year. Most years there is a relatively well known household name. This year there was a punk band covering “under the sea” that I’d expect to hear in a local pub. They didn’t help themselves with what appeared to be zero knowledge of the event they’d been booked to play.. The lack of the cool-flo guys and slippers the split was evident too. The replacement van as a dj booth was a very poor imitation.
It seemed pretty clear that the organisers had pushed the event into the school holidays to target a different demographic. Overall still another great weekend and I’m still an advocate of the event and the site but for the first time ever we felt shortchanged on the music side of the entertainment.

SantaPod was once a cherished haunt of my youth. Returning recently, I was met with a stark decline. The once exhilarating atmosphere has been replaced by a dismal disregard for safety and customer satisfaction.
The open, flagrant smoking of cannabis is a blatant disregard for others, including and especially children, yet the so-called 'plastic police' seem more interested in conducting parking than enforcing any semblance of order. The fact that people are allowed to smoke and directly trackside in the Grand Stand is an accident waiting to happen.
Value for money is a concept alien to SantaPod. A staggering £2.50 for a can of coke is a consistent rip-off across all food outlets, with no competition to drive prices down. The fairground is an overpriced, ramshackle affair, with rides costing a scandalous £5 each. The Ghost Train, in particular, is a painful parody of entertainment. Everything from the rides to the infrastructure feels broken and hastily repaired. It's as if the organizers assume your attendance guarantees their profit, leaving you with no choice but to endure their subpar offerings. Im anazes that so maby car shows are held here with the state of the roads in such bad conditions onto the camping areas. God help you if you're low and not on air!
So heres the positive. On the plus side you can take your own food and beverages, so be fully stocked before you enter. Water from the various stand pipes is also available, but be patient as Dave is washing his pits in there as well as last night's BBQ!!
Just a side note.... stop burning log fires. It's not cool. It's completely unnecessary and anti social.

Been so many times but never again, changed so much. Everything is overpriced. The staff/fake security are ridiculously rude. Pick on kids when there’s people walking round absolutely bladdered smoking cannabis in front of them and they are to scared to say anythin even in their packs of 4 they are walking round in. Wouldnt waste your money go somewhere else

It was absolutely fantastic. The weather threatened to damp it down but once the sky cleared up all the people involved made things happen quickly and it didnt spoil the day. We attended the Dragstalia Event and I had the Thrill Ride booked as a birthday present , it was the best experience ever. We will definitely be going back for another visit.

Having been a regular at Santa pod for about 38 years I brought my kids my boy rides trial bikes and endure bikes for 5 year … the kids were getting a pillion ride on a 8 hp monkey bike which is taxed and tested, with my son around the empty field with no harm to anyone, there where 10 campers in this massive field that’s all, it’s the field with wind turbines .. the security were ok but I don’t see what the point is when kids and adults are riding full electric bikes and scooters without bein checked as we were,, on Saturday the security came again and said we had glass bottles and made use decanter them into plastic bottles not happy about that as I am 58 years old and been camping from age of 12 … it’s does not surprise me the event was not busy for this week.. I drove 400 miles 10 hours in a motorhome and have done for many years … please can someone have a look at my comments and make changes or make it literally a level playing field for everyone or I won’t be back .

Wow! The Santa Pod Raceway is an absolute haven for petrolheads! Parking is very easy and well directed and wasn’t too far from the drag strip either. The layout of the site is well thought out with plenty of food and drink stalls (at the usual extortionate prices, but that’s to be expected at these kind of events). There are many shopping stalls themed to the event that is on and the area is genuinely a pleasant place to be. The staff we spoke to were all friendly and happy to help. We had a fantastic day at the main event 2024 and will certainly be returning.

Hi, I've been looking into coming because I'd love to race my friends in our own cars to see who's faster. Looks like the RWYB is the event to do that in, but there's no suggestion that you can choose who you race?

Do they do camping all through the year?
Looking to go to The Fast Show in march but it's a 4 hour round trip so wanted to camp the night.
Verfasst am 10. Januar 2020
Yes they do camping but it's not nice camping area if the weather is bad and if it rains the racing stops

iv booked a weekend ticket so we can camp what times do the gates lose as we have a long way to come may not arrive till 11pm-12am on Friday would we need to then wait untill the morning to be able to get in ??

Not sure it's along time since we did camping we stay outside in Airbnb or have done hotels
The camping area is horrible if it rains and depending on where you pitch some people around you can be noisy and upto all sorts.

I am thinking of going to the venue this weekend for the European finals, (Sept 5-8). I have never been before. I enjoy photography as a hobby and wondered which lens would be best suited. How far are spectators from the drag strip either on the bank or the grandstand? I guess the grandstand will be crammed and there will be little room to move around. I am lucky in that I have a vast choice of lenses to choose from, I realise space may be limited, especially if a tripod is needed for a larger lens and that would certainly rule out the grandstand. I'm just trying to take only what is necessary.

Hi mate, you can get to around 40/60 ft from the cars on the start line.you get good shots from closer to the end of the banking but there is more danger involved if a car losses control it may hit the banking so take care, have fun...

Going to monster truck nationals on Sunday, is the pit party worth doing?
Any other top tips for the day please? I am going with my 3 boys all under 8 years.
Thanks very much
Verfasst am 16. August 2019
I would say yes, you will get up close and probably be able to talk to the guys. The great thing about Santa Pod is the informality - quite the opposite of F1.
Remember the ear defenders! And enjoy.

How much are the monster truck rides at monster truck nationals?
Where do the monster trucks perform? Can we sit on a grass bank and watch?
What is the best time to get there, for when it opens at 9am?
First time going and taking my 3 sons. Thanks very much
Verfasst am 16. August 2019
Hi,
I'm not sure how much the Monster Truck ride is, but I think it's very reasonably priced. They perform several times a day in their own arena, where there is a seating area at one end, or you can watch from the grassy bank overlooking the arena. The bank also overlooks the main drag strip.
Racing usually starts around 9-9.30am, and goes on until evening (weather permitting) and there are people arriving throughout the morning, so there are no huge queues to get in. All the cars run twice or more so you won't miss anything if you arrive a bit later.
Be sure to buy a programme, which is extremely informative and includes a really good guide to everything you're likely to see.
It's very loud - for me that's the best bit! - ear defenders for kids & adults alike are on sale throughout the site.
Enjoy!
