We had an incredible private visit to the farm with friends and our two little kids (4 and 1). Sonja was a lovely host, full of information and eager to engage my daughters in farm life by letting them feed chickens, milk a goat and pet other animals. Highly recommend!!

This is the perfect place to stay if you're curious about farm life, or even simply a getaway from the city! My fiancee and I stayed for a few nights. Our living room had a beautiful view of the farm, as well as the fall foliage. We got to milk a goat, learn how to make cheese, and feed the chickens! Sonja is very kind and taught us a lot about the farm lifestyle. Highly recommend!

What a special trip! We visited sonja and dicks incredible farm with our 21 month old daughter and felt so lucky to experience what their life is like. They have chickens, goats, sheep, a horse, donkey, dogs, cats, pigs. Our daughter loved seeing all of the animals and being able to pet them and feed them! Sonja brings you along during her morning and evening feeds and shares her knowledge of rearing countless animals over their +40 years of farming. They also have a beautiful organic garden that they shared with us. We stayed in their apartment for the weekend. The one bedroom apartment had plenty of space for us and a fully equipped kitchen. They let us use a portable crib for our toddler who slept very comfortably. We ate fresh eggs and greens from the garden for breakfast - such a treat! We brought food for lunches and dinners which worked out really well. We also picked up bbq from the smoke joint (15 min drive, outdoor eating by a river, live music) one night and it was great!
Thank you for inviting us into your lives for a weekend Sonja and dick! We had such a wonderful time!
Highly recommend for families with a young kid who want an authentic farm stay experience!!

We visited Apple Pond a cold November morning as part of a weekend getaway for our anniversary! We emailed Apple Pond and Sonja and Katie responded promptly and kindly accommodated us for a last minute tour.
It was truly the highlight of our anniversary weekend. Katie and their sheepdog Molly greeted us enthusiastically upon arrival. She gave us a tour of the farm and we helped feed the animals, including a horse, goats, sheep, and chickens. We got up close and personal with the goats in particular and it was a true delight. The animals were incredibly well-mannered and comfortable with our proximity.
Katie was a wonderful guide and explained how special Apple Pond Farm was for its renewable energy and low-waste mindset. She even gave us a lesson on milking the goats, patiently coaching our unskilled city hands. We sampled some goat milk as well and it was delicious.
After the tour, we were welcomed to stay on the property and walk to the upper part of the farm. Molly the dog stayed with us and we played many rounds of fetch before we headed out for the day. It was truly a perfect morning spent with Katie and we can't wait to return!

We had a wonderful time at Apple Pond Farm this weekend (our second visit). Our kids, who are 9 and 6, love coming out to help gather eggs and feed the goats and sheep at the appointed time of the morning — and then being in charge of making sure all 22 chickens and a turkey are in the henhouse at night. The dogs and cats that live on the farm are great fun too. The farm house is comfortable, with lovely handmade quilts on some of the beds, and the kitchen equipped with pots and pans and such so we could cook our meals. (Though we made it even easier one night by picking up pizza at Kaatskills in the nearby town of Livingston Manor.) This farm stay is not fancy, but very cozy and a real working farm, which is exactly what we wanted. (And just before departing this time, we even got to be part of a goat's giving birth, which was amazing, but certainly cannot be counted on!) We will definitely be back again.

We visited the Apple Pond Farm with the family. We made reservations for a private tour and the kids loved it. Our tour included milking a goat and feeding the chickens. A great experience!

Took or family with two kids (2 and 6) for a private tour. The owner was really nice and walked us all around the property, letting the kids spend time with the sheep, goat, chickens, and more. They also got to feed the chicken. We picked and bought some vegis and fresh eggs (that don't need to be refrigerated since they were fresh, as long as you eat them within a week). Overall a nice hour to break up the day.

We are delighted that you enjoyed our time here! Talking about our farm, showing you are animals, garden...these are great pleasures for us. Won't you come again, stay the weekend - we have a cheese making glass on 7/29. The final event in the fall is 'A little bit of everything' on the 15th of August.

This is just a small farm in the hills of the Catskills. They have a variety of farm animals which children are allowed to touch and feed. The one highlight was milking a nanny goat. The family is interactive with the children. A good informative stop which only took a little over an hour. Got to see rural countryside on route to the farm. Thank goodness for GPS.

Thank you for stopping at our farm. I am delighted that the goats pleased you! We milk twice a day - that's lots of milk to drink and turn into cheese. Before long we will be milking some sheep. Perhaps you will consider a cheese making class one of these days - 'A Lotta Ricotta." Please come again

My boyfriend, dog, and I visited Apple Pond Farm during a trip to the area. Dick was our tour guide, and we learned a lot from him about renewable energy and how they run their farm. Just as interesting was hearing about Dick and his wife Sonje's life experiences. His passion for what he does is contagious! There is a sense of harmony between them and their animals, and it renewed our appreciation for the environment and the animals we share the world with.
I really think this tour is great for people of all ages. You will learn a lot either way, and it's inspiring to talk to people who care so much about what they do.

Winter visitors have a special place in our hearts. It's cold here! Dick never tires of talking about climate change, our wind turbine, solar plans etc. We believe we are previleged to live on a farm, to work with, care for an love animals...seems you share many of our values and feelings. Won't you come again? spend a weekend in our guest house? attend a cheese making class (7/29)
