We covered Tropical Sri Lanka starting with Colombo, followed by Sigriya, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Ella, Galle and Nigombo to complete our 10 days tour in Dec 2021. Organized by Kingfisher Tours Sri Lanka (Thanks to Aashik)
Few words on our tour and the beauty of Sri Lanka as to why someone called it Pearl is worth mentioning. This idyllic country offers a Buffet of treat to wandering eyes. Everlasting Greenery of fields, majestic hills peppered with Tea Estates and lovely beaches. Sri Lanka signifies Tea, Cinnamon, Lovely hill ranges, Lakes, Fauna and Flora, Vast water body, scintillating beaches, lovely and humble people, King Coconut trees offering a nectar in the form of Tender Coconut, Sugary and fleshy sumptuous pine apples, majestic Elephants and beautiful Peacocks, The trip covered Colombo site seeing (Still British days Heritage buildings well preserved) , Spice Garden , Elephant farm (giant is always kind), Sigriya rock trek. Atreya Spa in Sigriya offered a nice recuperative therapy for removing travel tiredness- (There is a gentle medicinal value in the pure air), Alluring Buddhist Temples at Kandy (vibrant, colorful and spiritual with rich history) and learned Guides, fantastic Cultural show in the form of Dance and Fire dance. Nuwara Eliya hill range elevated Sri Lanka in the world map as the crown of Tea. Ella is another treat of nature. The nine arch bridge is architectural splendor lasting a Century. Undisturbed Dutch splendor is a treat with centuries old buildings and shopping market at Galle. Don’t miss the Orchid shop in Dutch area in Galle (offering nice gifts and tea and jewelry). To add to the spice were our tour of lake Koggulu and Cinnamon making process, Whale watching in Indian ocean off Galle coast (indeed we could see dozens of endearing Dolphins and mating Turtles as bonus), It took some patience and with lady luck smiling it paid off.
To the ardent Hindus like us visit to Sita Devi Temple near Ella and Murugan Temple near Kataragama added nice flavor.
Few other inputs- Forest Safari (Yala park could be a better choice to Sigriya-we did not see many animals). Cards are accepted in few places but having cash on hand makes sense for many places especially on entry tickets and guide services. On food we have less advise since we are vegetarians though we see all places offers huge variety of Sea food. As per local feedback the price has escalated overall due to Covid impact. Sri Lanka - we would like to visit again in future to see uncovered territory through Kingfisher travels. Advise on PCR Test- Nigombo 1 day is the scheduled time for report but we got it in less than 18hrs. Only print out at the Center possible and not emails. RT-PCR at Colombo airport is fast and efficient (in one hour 10 min)- couple of labs available as choice.
