Our family had an unforgettable journey through Taiwan with Life of Taiwan. From the moment we started planning, Mark and his team were incredibly responsive and accommodating, ensuring that our itinerary covered all our interests—history, culture, nature, outdoor activities, food, night markets, and, of course, the stunning New Year's Eve fireworks in Taipei.
Our private guide and driver, Kyle, was outstanding. His deep knowledge of Taiwan’s history and culture, combined with his warm personality and flexibility, made the experience truly exceptional. He went above and beyond, ensuring we were always comfortable, well-fed, and immersed in the local way of life. His passion for Taiwan was contagious, and by the end of the trip, we had gained a profound appreciation for this beautiful country.
The itinerary itself was masterfully curated. Every day brought a new adventure—from bustling night markets and scenic mountain towns to serene tea plantations and historic sites. The balance of city and nature, as well as structured plans and free time, was perfect. We never felt rushed, yet we covered an impressive amount of Taiwan.
Taiwan is often overshadowed by its larger neighbors in Western media, but this trip opened our eyes to its rich history, incredible cuisine, and welcoming people. Thanks to Life of Taiwan, we returned home not just with wonderful memories, but with a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s unique identity.

We asked Life of Taiwan to put together a flexible tour for areas around Taipei and Taichung and they did a marvelous job with all the logistical planning! Jim, our guide, was knowledgable and fun. He gave us insight into the history, food culture, and scenery of Taiwan. He was an enthusiastic and expert photographer and helped us document our trip. Our driver was very skillful at navigating the curvy mountain roads. I highly recommend this company for private tours.

We contacted the Life of Taiwan team with short notice to put together a 3 day, 2 night trip departing from Taipei to Alishan and surrounding areas, focused around trains for my 10 year old train enthusiast son in November, 2024. Our trip was seamless from start to finish. The Life of Taiwan team sent us a detailed itinerary and packing guide. They picked us up and dropped us off in Taipei and we had the best carefree delightful experience. Erskine was our wonderful and knowledgeable guide/driver for the trip. We learned so much from Erskine about Taiwan and its culture, we can't wait to go back for another trip. My son loved the trip, all the train rides, and also learned about tea from a tea master in Alishan. He's now our family's master tea brewer using tea that he self picked in Alishan.

Took a trip down the east coast of Taiwan, staying at homestays of the many tribes of Taiwan. It delivered above and beyond my expectations. Every homestay was delightful and Steve (guide) took me to the all local places to eat! The eastern coast of Taiwan is a stunning place!

We (family with 12 yr old boy and 9 yr old girl) spent 11 full days in Taiwan enjoying the most amazing tour ever. The Life of Taiwan team were prompt, polite and very professional from the moment we contacted them via email to enquire about their services. Our itinerary was amended numerous times until we agreed on the best tour for us.
Our guide Joe would be the undisputed rock star of tour guides if such a title existed! Joe, with his infinite knowledge, patience and easy-going nature, is what made this holiday magical for us. Yes, Taiwan is really special, but we fully got it because of Joe.
Thank you Joe and Life of Taiwan, we will be coming back!

It was my first time to Taiwan and I brought my elderly parents along. Mark and Maggie have been helpful in coming up with suitable itineraries for us. They also provided a wheelchair for us , taking into consideration that my dad can’t walk much due to weakness. As this is our trip we are free to adjust the plans as we go along as well. Steven, our guide, was very knowledgeable being in the field for many years. He was very patient and helpful. I enjoyed the fact that everything is on auto pilot and I don’t have to worry about anything. We enjoyed all the places and would love to visit Taiwan again.

We cannot say enough excellent things about the trip Life of Taiwan planned for us! They exceeded every expectation! On top of that..the last minute delays we encountered due to the typhoon (which turned original plans a bit inside out) were handled so flawlessly by them and for that we are forever grateful!
Our guides were nothing short of fabulous! We travel to Tainan, Alishan, some surrounding villages and on to Taipei.
Hsi Hua took extra great care of us…..and truth be told…I was so very thankful to have an air force pilot be the person to drive us on the winding, foggy, ever curving narrow and mountain roads..that gave me quite an extra sense of security! He was always attentive and kind,
Our time with Steven Crook was another outstanding adventure. What a perfectly lovely and extremely knowledgeable person to have had the pleasure to spend time with! Truly a highlight experience!
And the lovely I-Ping…..she taught is so very much! I-Ping is a gem of a guide and a person.
All of the personnel and guides at Life of Taiwan are highly knowledgeable, professional, caring, dedicated, welcoming, and extraordinary hosts! We hope our paths will meet again!

Life of Taiwan exceeded our expectations. Mark and Maggie worked with us to plan the trip we wanted, including visiting a tea plantation in the Alishan Mountains and a cooking class in Taipei. Taiwan is a beautiful country, the people are warm and welcoming, the history is fascinating, and the food is varied and delicious. Our guide Joe was wonderful. The trip was everything we hoped for -- and more.

My husband, adult son and I visited Taiwan from the US in late Oct. We had 9 days in country. I had done research and sketched out a plan for the trip, but turned to Life of Taiwan after using their website for itinerary ideas and reading many glowing reviews. The three of us would all tell you that the reviews are accurate, and you can believe this one also. Life of Taiwan provided exceptional service and truly saved our trip when Typhoon Kong Rey hit. The pre-trip planning was smooth. Mark and Maggie are totally responsive and provide great advice. I could send them a note and know I would have a response as soon as it was office hours in Taipei. Our son had been to Taiwan on a college trip and recommended we go there. My husband and I are fairly seasoned travelers, but this was our first foray to anywhere in Asia, so I thought having a guide and trip planning assistance would be helpful. With only nine days on the ground, we didn’t want to waste time getting lost, wondering where to go, the best times to visit sites, getting tickets, etc. Life of Taiwan worked with our plan to use a mix of local accommodations and some hotel nights we booked ourselves. They put together an itinerary that was full but not rushed, and adjusted quickly based on our interests. Our guide, Joe, was incredible. He met us at the airport and was with us everyday. His knowledge of Taiwan and its history and culture made our trip so much more interesting than if we had been on our own. He knew people, he knew shortcuts and backroads, he knew stories and anecdotes, he knew the mountains and highways, and before too long he knew us and how we like to travel. Joe made sure we enjoyed all of the culinary delights of Taiwan - from night markets to back alley soup spots. He made recommendations along the way and was always willing to change a plan if we desired it. And when Typhoon Kong Rey hit he (along with Maggie in the background) adjusted the itinerary on the fly so that to us it was seamless. While we lost some time in the mountains, they made sure we still had a full trip and weren’t just sitting around waiting for the weather to pass. A year earlier we had a hurricane hit on our vacation to Mexico, so we thought this trip was going to be a mess also, but Life of Taiwan and Joe kept us rolling along. Could you visit Taiwan without a guide? Absolutely. But for us Life of Taiwan and our guide Joe were investments that made our trip twice as enjoyable as it otherwise would have been, even without factoring in the typhoon. They are flexible, professional and totally knowledgeable with a deep network of resources and contacts that will make your trip wonderful. Thank you Joe, Maggie and Mark for a wonderful trip! I can only hope to find an organization like Life of Taiwan for our next adventure.

We arranged with the Life of Taiwan team for a tour of the Snail Alleys in Tainan. We met with I-Ping. I-Ping's knowledge of the history of the alleys was brilliant and so very interesting on how things have changed in the last 400 years. I-Ping was also very attentive with regard to our likes and dislikes and took us to the local restaurants specialising in the local food of Tainan. We also looked at a few of the temples situated in the alleys dedicated to the God of longevity and the Water God amongst a few. Thank you so much Life of Taiwan we will definitely use your services again and recommend you to our friends.

How many hours of touring are there per day? Are meals usually on our own? What level hotels do you use? What meals are included in the food tour? thanks
