We went on three tours with our Hebrew speaking tour guide Janusz. He was just super!!!!! The first day was an intensive walking tour of Pest, including the Jewish Quarter. The next tour was a boat trip on the Danube at night. Just wonderful. The third tour was a bus trip along the Buda side of the Danube up the the "knee" of the Danube and Visogad, an ancient Roman city which is now an artist's town. He is well spoken, has a great sense of humor and is extrmely knowlegdable. It was a delight to tour with him. I highly recomment Hebrew speakers to tour Budapest with Janusz!!!!

I booked a personal tour guide for Budapest. Her name was Andrea and her knowledge was excellent. Fitted into the group very well. Highly recommended

Sono innamorata di questa città sotto natale è speciale, abbiamo organizzato un viaggio famiglia e amici, mio marito per caso ha trovato il sito di Laszlo e devo dire ho ricevuto di complimenti da tutto il gruppo, una persona veramente brava, simpatica e ti racconta la storia come una favola. Complimenti!!!

We contacted Andrea several weeks before arriving in Budapest, and was an excellent communicator. She met us at our hotel for a 1/2 day tour with driver the first day to get to further sites, then a walking tour the 2nd day. She was extremely knowledgeable , flexible and super friendly. He command of English language was exceptional and gave us firsthand insights into Budapest history. Best guide ever!!!

Consiglio a tutti di contattare László Mellini per visitare Budapest . Noi eravamo in 4, abbiamo visto Budapest con gli occhi di chi ci risiede, per scelta, da tanti anni. Guida molto preparata, simpaticissima e con tanta pazienza, ti porta a visitare luoghi classici e luoghi insoliti, raccontandoti storia e aneddoti, facendoti vivere il passato e il quotidiano. Due mezze giornate durante le quali, László ci ha dato consigli preziosi. Ci ha indicato i locali migliori e sconsigliato quelli classici per i turisti "da spennare"... ci ha indicato dove cambiare gli Euro, dove mangiare bene, spendendo poco. Se andate a Budapest, non sbagliatevi, László è veramente la guida che fa per voi!

Lovely trip on the river, nice dinner and lovely gipsy music! An evening I will never forget. The people on board are very nice and very helpfull. A great way to relax after a day full of advetures and beautiful museums in Budapest!

After disembarking from a Daunbe River cruise we booked extra time in Budapest. In order to better see the city we engaged the services of Andrea and a driver with Budapest Guide. Our experience could not have been better. Andrea was so very knowledgeable of the City, history, culture and architecture. Our driver was so capable and always managed to meet us at the exact time we finished visiting a POI. By having the driver we were able to see many more sites than we would have been able to if it had just been a walking tour. I would highly recommend them.

I will start my review for Budapest with the positive things that I enjoyed. Budapest as a destination is a very beautiful city with a lot of history and things to do. I suggest to all travelers witch visit Budapest for the first time to pay for Hop On - Hop Off busses witch are value for money and they will take you to see all the tourist spots of the city. The best thing is that you can go down wherever you want and take the next one to continue your tour. Another good thing is that they have many public transports witch make your trip easier.
Now, let’s go to the bad things you will find in your way and are good to avoid.
1. DO NOT CHANGE money (especially euros) at the airport. The rate is very bad and if you exchange for E.X 200 euros you will lost 40 euros! Best thing to do is to find in town the best change spot and change your money. Good thing is that the most of shops restaurants etc accept card and some euros in cash.
2. Food in many occasions is overpriced. Be aware what you pay for bcz you don’t know well the HUF currency and it’s easy to pay expensive for Stupid staff. For ex I visit a market place and I payed for 2 street foods lunches 45 euros!
3. People are not speaking English! It was a headache to ask someone where to go in English! Most of the people don’t even know to say “Hello”.
4. AVOID taking TAXI in Budapest. Taxi drivers are scams and thief’s in town. Try to use public transportation or day time the Hop-On Hop-Off busses.
END: I lost over 100 euros for stupid reasons in Budapest (money changing, taxi, food the most of) so be careful on your trip.

Abbiamo avuto Laszlo Mellini come guida personale per 3 giorni a fine ottobre. Contattato via internet "guidabudapest". Italo-ungherese , grande conoscenza su storia e cultura dell Ungheria e Budapest, cosa che abbiamo molto apprezzato. Ci ha mostrato Budapest dandoci spiegazioni dettagliate. Molto bello giro dell ansa del Danubio: Estergom l antica capitale e la sua basilica, Visegrad e bel paesino St.Andres sul Danubio. Delizioso e romantico anche il castello di Sissi "Godollo". Laszlo ci ha organizzato la presa e ritorno in aeroporto . Ottimi i suoi consigli sui ristoranti nonché su come girare in Budapest e cosa visitare in dettaglio. Una mezza giornata alle terme Gellert ci ha poi rilassato. Fa una grande differenza avere una guida personale, competente e simpatica , sempre disponibile. Mio marito ed io siamo stati contentissimi e soddisfatti. Assolutamente consigliato , Laszli Mellini vi farà apprezzare e amare Budapest e il Paese. Bravo !

I reached out to Andrea months before our trip. She indicated she herself would not be available, but arranged for us to have our tour with a colleague Aniko. We had two tours: a tour of the Buda side with a quick orientation to Pest; a country tour of the Danube Bend and surrounding areas. We started with a great visit to Gellert hill that provides excellent views of the city and included Aniko providing very detailed orientation of the city, including ring roads, bridges, and information on Buda and Pest side. We did drive by views of several places on the Buda side and Pest side, and then visited Matthias Church area, which was interesting and provided additional great views. Our country drive/tour included a drive to ESZTERGOM visiting Slovakia to get a great view of the Cathedral we visited, then a trip to VISEGRÁD with a visit to the citadel and beautiful views of the Danube Bend, and then eating at a great restaurant recommended by Thomas the driver. Finally we visited SZENTENDRE that is a cute little town setting, a place I would spend more time if ever I were to return. The guide did a great job getting us to great spots, and providing an intensive historical lessons about the sites, areas and geography of the area.
