A lovely friendly safe space for all…..the other day I was in for my v generous cup of oat latte coffee and saw a lady having her early morning G & T whilst reading her morning paper …love it!

Went to the cinema on Sunday 8th December 2024 screen ,its a lovely independent cinema with attendants helping especially, the elderly to their seats and even just as when we were young,a ice cream lady appeared with the light upon her, the good old days,having read a review that some one sure cock roaches,they must have been wearing,night vision glasses bearing in mind most of the time,the lights are dimmed prephaps they should have gone to spec savers instead

This is so far the very Best Cinema I have been to anywhere in UK. It is absolutely beautiful, magical place, full of charm, amazingly organised / run by incredibly dedicated, professional team. There is nothing what I would rate average. This cinema deserves full 5 Star rating!!! Always love coming back with my family, despite the traveling distance. Thank You all Abbeygate Cinema! Nice, welcoming, clean. You are truly the Best!!! 👌👏

Dingy and dirty is what i experienced the theater seats are old and it is either too hot or too cold in there so bad also saw roaches

Always love this cinema. We came to watch Paddington in Peru. Lovely auditorium clean great sound and normally picture. Only not a 5 was that the film stopped at the start, a member of the audience went to get someone to fix it. After one unsuccessful restart all was fine. The cinema has a very nice restaurant to eat at.

We had the pleasure of hosting our afternoon post wedding celebration at Abbeygate Cinema, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish.
We hired their upstairs function room, which provided the perfect cozy and stylish setting for our event. The drinks and nibbles were excellent, adding just the right touch to our afternoon.
A special thank you to Laura and Gareth, who, along with the rest of the team, took such great care of us. Their attentive service and friendly demeanour made us feel truly welcomed and ensured everything ran smoothly. It was evident that they genuinely cared about making our time there enjoyable.
Abbeygate Cinema not only provided a wonderful venue but also showcased their dedication to top-tier customer service. I highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to host a special event or simply enjoy a visit. We’ll certainly be back!

I have just brought membership for this cinema the lady was very helpful and knew what she was doing. We also ate at their restaurant and once again the staff were very helpful. Strongly recommend Abbeygate Cinema

Just popped in for a coffee. Not been in for a while and noticed the revamp. How warm and comfortable. Sofas and cushions, it was lovely and warm and coffee and tea is reasonably priced compared to some cafes in the town.
Service great and drinks hot. Cakes to choose from if you wanted. Will visit again with friends.
You don’t have to watch a film, just enjoy a cuppa.

My boyfriend and I visited the Abbeygate cinema in September to watch Grand Budapest Hotel as part of their Sunday specials which includes a film and two course dinner consisting of a roast dinner and dessert for £30. It was my boyfriend's first time visiting Abbeygate cinema and he loved the experience. I have been a couple of times to the cinema including for a Christmas meal at No 4 restaurant with film with my workplace. I knew the food was impeccable and it certainly didn't disappoint this time around. The food is of high quality, and portions were more than generous and delicious. Drinks are not included but prices were fair. It is great value for £30. The film we saw is one of my favourites and the seats are very comfy so it was a real treat. Service was great from staff working at the cinema and restaurant. My only minor criticism is it wasn't explicit that the Sunday dinner reservation is for 12:30pm and the film starts at 2pm for the Sunday Specials. I rang up in advance to check but otherwise I wouldn't have found this information. Overall, would highly recommend visiting Abbeygate cinema and supporting independent cinemas and if you can, have a lunch, dinner or cake at the No 4 restaurant and bar.

My experience is usually good but sadly there is one female who goes out of her way to antagonise me. She’s fairly new to the team and if looks could kill ………. I’m not sure what her problem is but several of my friends have had issues with her as well, including being overcharged and spoken to rudely. Everyone else is always polite and professional. Apart from that it’s a lovely cinema and the films are great.

Not too big, I would describe them as cosy for two people.i much prefer sitting just behind the sofas ,more leg room.

It used to be part of the Picture House group which is owned by Cineworld. It was taken over by a private entity when Cineworld opened their multiplex.
