My wife and I visited here on Friday 21 March 2025. To say that we were both blown away by the site that greeted us would be a total understatement. We have never been to such an impeccably kept and amazing military museum in all our lives. It was quite humbling and moving to see all those graves of fallen heroes who gave their lives to secure freedom for so many. We spent over two hours just simply walking around this absolutely pristine American Memorial Cemetery. Both of us had very heavy hearts at the sacrifice these gallant individuals gave us all in 1939-1945.
The Memorial Wall of all the fallen names of individuals who are reported as missing is just simply overwhelming. There are literally thousands of names written from one end of the wall to the other from top to bottom. The chapel at the end of the wall is poignant and is a must to visit.
By far this was the best visit we had during our stay in Cambridgeshire and will live with us both forever. It is really hard to put into words how much we owe these men & women. So glad we came and if we are ever back in this area we would call in again. There is ample parking and there are also rest rooms if you require them.

What an amazing place, is it Cambridge’s best kept secret?
Can’t believe it wasn’t busier here, it’s all set up to receive more visitors but had just one other family here during half term?
A great, informative centre, fully immersive and modern. The cemetery is so well kept, clean and tidy and the planning/ layout is done so well. Don’t miss the Chapel, it’s stunning, although freezing in February!

This was a beautiful and jarring place to visit. You can truly feel the wait of our soldiers sacrifice when you visit. I would highly recommend taking the time to visit. It was one of my favorite things that I did during my trip to Cambridge.

I have a great Uncle that died in WWII. He was a gunner in a plane and his plane went missing and never returned. His name is therefore on the wall of the missing and it was really important to me that someone from the family visit to pay respects. We went in the wintertime, so it was cold and there were guys using leafblowers at the memorial. They were respectful and gave us a moment at the section of the wall we stopped at to place our flowers. However, I was delighted to find a chapel that is dedicated to the airmen that lost their lives. The chapel is beautiful with a gorgeous mosaic ceiling and a passage written about how they sacrificed - it was quite touching. I was further delighted when I popped by the visitor center and the woman inside took her time to lookup information on my great Uncle and print out information and a certificate for me to take back home. Her information even provided a few details we didn't have before. I also learned of the faces of Cambridge campaign and was able to email a photo of my Uncle to be displayed and remembered. The site is well maintained and the staff were lovely. I am so glad we went and very glad that those who gave their lives are treated so respectfully here.

A very moving experience. Simply stunning and extremely well kept cemetery and gardens. The visitor centre is good and full of information.

This is a beautiful, immaculately kept cemetery containing 5127 missing named on a wall and 3812 graves of WWII U. S. armed forces plus others who served during the war like band leader, Glenn Miller. It is on a lovely hill donated by the University of Cambridge. There is an interesting visitor center where stories of those named there is recounted. We were impressed with how well the cemetery is kept. Men were pulling weeds and a nice man was painting the gates with great care. Don’t miss it. The hop on, hop off goes to it.

We went here as a last minute decision and we were not disappointed.
From the films as you walk in, to the moving stories and pictures of different military personnel around the walls through to the beautifully maintained grounds- it was both evocative and awe inspiring. The chapel had many small details that meant at every turn there was something else to realise even at a repeated look. The artistry was fantastic.
Well worth a visit.

I have lived in Cambridge for over eight years and passed the American cemetry many times without visiting. It was only when American friends visited on Armistice day that I visited for the first time. The cemetry is immaculate and serene. There is a explanation on why the cemetry was created and a number of memorials to WWII heroes. A place for contemplation.

Well worth a visit for those interested in WW2, there is a very informative visitor centre at the entrance before you tour the grounds with the large number of graves and visit the chapel at the far end of the cemetery with an incredible mosaic detailing the WW2 campaigns.

When the Americans entered the war a number of sites were earmarked as temporary cemeteries. In the end, only three were used: Lisnabreeny in Northern Ireland; the First World War American Cemetery at Brookwood, Surrey; Cambridge, on land donated by the University. After the war it was decided to use Cambridge as the site of the Permanent cemetery because :
1. It was a place of tourism then as it is now, with good communication links.
2. It is a beautiful position, looking our over the flatlands of East Anglia where the huge network of airfields were built.
3. Those building and working from the airfields stayed at their locations for a while and got to know their local neighbours. This was a special relationship that endures today, down the generations.

Is this open Sundays in winter? Hoping to go tomorrow but the website unhelpful re opening times?
Also, are there are nice walks near by? (we can drive between locations)
