The best place in town for surf lessons and board rentals. The owners are so lovely and were really generous with their time, advice and flexibility, ensuring we had a great experience whilst learning how to surf at Tofo. Thank you :)
They've got good prices on everything, and the boards are in good condition. Definitely drop by their place when you're in Tofo.

Great place with good boards and a nice shop to get surf shirts, wax and so on! The people from the shop are super friendly and helpful. I rented a board for a week and they told me I could come change it anytime for another type of board.

I was in Tofo with my little daughter. She took surfing lessons at the surf shack. Everyone there was just wonderful. The lessons were great, my daughter had a lot of fun and learned a lot. I can only recommend the surf shack. They also have great equipment for sale and rent. New and also second hand. The owners and instructors are amazing.

While in Tofo our 9yo daughter wanted to try surfing. She was teamed up with Ricardo and after her first lesson could stand on the board. She spent the rest of the week surfing as often as she could, enjoying this new sport and hobby for her. The instructors and staff were all helpful, friendly, professional and well organised. Highly recommended. If you want to learn to surf Tofo is a good place and the Surf Shack will help. Good value prices too. Thankyou!

We rented out a kayak for fishing and went several kilometers out. There we noticed that the kayak's air compartment was full of water and we had to get the water out of the compartment for several times manually. The manager did not care, no recompensation, nothing! When i first tried to negotiate the price before, he told me that 'he is not chasing money', but for me, if you play with safety of the clients for money, he is just doing that. Never again!

Hi there
I’m so sorry about your experience with the kayak. We are very particular about making sure that all our equipment is safe and in good working order. To my knowledge - you split the 1 days rental over two days and had no problems on the first day but had problems the second time you took it out. (Or if you had a problem on the first day you didn’t mention anything about it)
The safety of our clients is of utmost importance to us and we would never intentionally put anyone at risk. If you are still around Tofo and can come past the shop I’ll be happy to refund you for the half day that you had problems with the kayak.

We had two amazing surf lessons with Ricardo. He was a really experienced surf teacher, patient and really motivating. Next time when we are back in Tofo we will definitely book some surf classes. Thanks a lot!

Mon copain a loué deux jours de suite une planche et un lycra. Le prix est raisonnable. Les personnes qui y travaillent sont jeunes et dynamiques. Je les ai vu donné des cours les gens étaient satisfaits.

Dave and Allyson are the owners and a wonderful couple. The shop is right on the beachfront they do courses, rent and sell new boards. Great service and super friendly.

Althou’ a bit pricey, compared with other surfboard rentals I’ve encountered throughout my travels in Southern Africa, they have good boards and they are pretty flexible, offering discounts for staying people staying at Pariango Hostel. The shack is located in Tofo Beach, which is great for beginners and initiating surfing lessons, but a decent 20 minute walk away from Tofinho, where the waves are considerably better. Tofo is the ultimate surftown: good energy, delicious food, waves and beautiful sunsets

hi guys do you have accomodation there or able to recommend some where decent but cheap as i need somewhere for a month or more. thanks Dave
