Seeking a natural refuge and some peace and quiet, we were pleasantly surprised by wonderful diversity and pleasant loud omnipresent Punjabi music. Exchanging searching for frogs and shells I spent my time picking up litter that seem to be present everywhere that the Punjabi music had been playing. What a coincidence. Taking the kids to the general store for an ice cream experience only resulted in witnessing park staff attempting to intervene in rampant theft of sundries. I used to frequent this park in my childhood and can tell you it has absolutely gone to s*** ... And I must say through no fault of staff but rather the clientele that now frequents these parks.

What a beautiful place to explore. Great for solo trips and beauty. Two of my friends met me at the end and it was picture perfect and many activities to do or just reflection.

As someone who has gone to several Ontario parks this one greatly disappointed us. There was toilet paper and tampons thrown into bushy areas due to people having nowhere to do their "business" (the campground was FULL yet only 1 comfort station, and 3 outhouses which were lined up waaaay back during the morning/day/evening).
The beaches were very small and murky, so they get crowded easily with the day users let alone other campers. It is also a very noisy park with the highway nearby. The sites are on top of one another and very small, make sure you research your site ahead of time because although we searched for sites that had enough room for at least 2 tents, many sites wouldn't be able to fit even 1 medium sized tent due to the rocky terrain. Will not be going back for this was a terrible experience.

Easy access to walking trails. Campsite was flat and easy to access off the main road. Clean toilets and full soap dispenser! Lots of birds singing and frogs croaking!

After my 6 week trip across Minnesota, on my way back home to Toronto I went to Six Mile Lake Provincial Park, where I spent last 3 nights, as the weather was very good. The first night I spent on a campsite near the pond—since it was vacant for only 1 night, I had to relocate in the morning to another campsite on the same pond. It was the first time I camped on that campsite, which I had known was very private. Indeed, I was able to sit on the semi-rocky shore of the pond and admire the view in front of me, including a beaver lodge. At night I heard plenty of splashing—with my 1000-lumen flashlight I was quickly able to see a couple of beavers swimming around the lodge.
I also rode my bike several times on the park’s roads as well as on Joe King’s Road and Lake Road. As I was driving to the White’s Falls and Big Chute, I spotted something on the road. I stopped and drove back—there, in the middle of the asphalt road, was a coiled small Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnake, the only venomous snake in Ontario! I took a bunch of photos and then tried to gently relocate it to the side of the road. Initially, it kept charging at me, but as soon as it realized that it could not win, it hastily retreated into the dense vegetation. Later I asked a park warden if there were any rattlesnakes in the park—he said no because of all the tourists, but it was relatively common to encounter them around the park.
The park built a new comfort station several years ago, which was a great idea; there were also two charging stations for electric vehicles.

A quiet lake, not too far of a drive from the city of Toronto, and not that well-visited. It made for a really enjoyable day with the kids by the side of a lake.
The grounds are very well kept, and Ontario Parks limits the amount of people that are allowed to visit per day. This means that it does not get too crowded and that the grounds are quiet. The lakeside is clean, there are two beaches for people and another one for pets.
You can rent a canoe, kayak or paddle boat for the day or for a few hours and the staff were very helpful in facilitating this. The bathrooms were clean and not far from the beach.
At the present time, there is a fire ban in the park; no updates on when it will be lifted.

We stayed a Six Mile on June 23rd, 24th. We have camped there the same weekend for the past fourteen years, and enjoy our stay every year. This year there was an extreme shortage of workers present, resulting with at least 50% of the comfort station toilets being closed. With a nearly full camp grounds, this resulted with lineups and generally messy toilets. Wet floors, paper on the floors, etc. I chose one of the outhouse type toilets to get away from the crowds, and was overwhelmed with flies hatching from below. Needless to say, this situation greatly impacted our enjoyment of the park. I understand that the park was caught short when they found themselves shorthanded, but also believe that they should have provided some goodwill with a reduced rate, or something towards a stay at a future date. We will likely stay at Six Mile in 2024, but for this year, we were disappointed.

If you value quiet and the sound of nature, this isn't the park for you. Hwy 400 is very loud and can be heard all over the park. It could be easily heard over the dozens of yelling kids in sites close by plus the obnoxious music being played by a group of city guys a few sites down. I wore ear plugs and covered my head with a pillow, could still hear it. There is no peace or quiet at any time of day.
The sites are very close together with little privacy.
The water at the beach is murky and weedy.
I give it a 2 star rating because the staff were wonderful.

My campsite was located on a beaver pond and I remembered that some 12 years ago there had been a sizable beaver lodge not far from the shore. This year the lodge was gone, but at that very spot a beautiful blue heron stood, trying to catch fish or frogs. Although it kept changing its hunting spots, I saw it almost every day. One evening, when it was almost dark, I saw the blue heron majestically fly from the lake and land on a tree branch on the other side of the pond, where he probably spent the night. A semi-submerged stump made a great place for turtles to climb on and rest, basking in the sun. And there were small birds, incessantly flying over the water in search for food. Since the campsite was quite open, the sun was all over my tent at 8:00 am and I had to wake up and get out of the tent—or suffocate! At least I did not need an alarm clock.
The park was quite busy and sometimes on the noisy side, but it did not bother me. From time to time I saw the park’s truck drive by.
The new comfort station was certainly a welcome addition; it offered a number of showers. There were two electric vehicle charging stations nearby. The noise from Highway 400 was pronounced, but since it was continuous, after a while I just stopped noticing it.
The weather was perfect and it did not rain, yet I set up a very primitive and small tarp in case of rain. I did not see any raccoons, foxes or other bigger animals. The beach was OK and I even went for a swim a few times. And probably the most important thing: there were no mosquitoes whatsoever, I did not have to use mosquito spray. I had NEVER experienced such a mosquito-free summer in my over 30+ years of camping!

I loved the size of this park. Because it was small we could easily walk the trails and to the shop and beaches when Compared to other provincial parks where they are larger and a vehicle is necessary to move around.

Does anyone know if the Park Store at Six Mile Lake is completely open now, July 2021? Last summer the store was only open for firewood purchases.
Verfasst am 3. Juli 2021
According to the park's website, the store should be open. But if you want to know 100%, call the park, (705) 756-2746.

Is this a question? All prices can be found on the Parks website.
I tried to post a link but TripAdvisor won't let me.

How much is it to rent a Kayak? Alternatively, can you rent a canoe for 1 hour instead of 2? And if so, how much for the one hour?

Do you need to book canoe rentals ahead of time for this time of year?
