We had a great morning tour of Chippendale and Redfern with Wendy our very pleasant, knowledgeable guide from Culture Scouts! We are Sydney-siders and saw parts of Chippendale and Redfern that we hadn't known existed, from lovely old buildings, to great, eclectic art galleries, amazing street art, 'funky' food outlets, fascinating history and of course, wonderful coffee! So good to see this part of Sydney from a different perspective! Thank you Wendy and Culture Scouts.

Det var en skøn tur uden stress, der var tid til spørgsmål og massere af historie fortælling på hele turen + en skøn kop kaffe;) Fantastisk guide der havde styr på tingene og var meget lokalt kendt, så var virkelig god til at fortælle om gode tips til hvor der var nice at gå hen og hvad man burde opleve omkring stedet!
Så alt i alt en rigtig dejlig tur.. Helt sikkert anbefalingsværdig!

Super hyggelig tur med Erin, hvor vi fik oplevet den fine arkitektur og Street art!

En helt fantastisk Tour guide, hvor man lærer om både kunsten, lokale butikker og arkitekturen i Sydney! Vi var både på museum, cafe besøg, lokale butikker osv.
Derudover hører man også om områdets historie og ikke mindst om de indfødte
Helt sikkert en tur der kan anbefales til andre!!

Sincere apologies for the issue with your tour booking, we're so sorry we weren't able to show you around on our favourite tour! As I mentioned, the last minute booking request was missed in the inbox, and as such no guide was allocated for you two.

My partner and I have lived in Chippendale for a couple of years, and decided we wanted to know more about the history of where we lived. We were a little worried the tour would just point out places/ things we already knew, but we needn't have been concerned. Greg was super knowledgeable, and taught us so much about the history/ architecture/ street art of a place we thought we knew. He was very engaging, and was also able to answer all of our questions.

My daughter and I had so much fun on this tour and got to know a cool part of Sydney! I don’t know if otherwise we would have seen it. To see it through the eyes of Greg who was clearly passionate about a neighborhood he calls home. We began at the Old Clare hotel which in itself is a really interesting place with great history. I encourage you to take this tour. You will love it if you want to get to know another part of Sydney!

Being an Aussie and having visited Sydney on a number of occasions, I was keen to explore somewhere new. Culture Scouts Chippendale and Redfern Walking tour proved to be not only perfect for the regular visitor, like me, but also for new visitors, who are keen to scrape a little below the surface of the place they are visiting. The tour starts at the Old Clare Hotel, where Greg our guide launched into a detailed description of Chippendale's history and the hotel's fascinating past. We next moved through the suburb's back streets, where we observed both historic buildings and recent development, alongside one another. We popped into three different galleries, all housing impressive exhibitions, plus passed a number of incredible street art wall murals, finally taking respite at a groovy cafe for 20 mins to chat over a latte. Even during this time, Greg continued to answer questions and provide us with local insight into the area. The next stop was Redfern, where Greg discussed the history of the First Nations people in this suburb and how colourful a past it had been and continues to be. Final stop was some interesting shops in Redfern and observing the gentrification of the suburb firsthand. Greg made exhausting work look easy and I learnt so much during the tour. He was always polite and engaging and I could have chatted for hours with him about the evolving streetscape, and the past, present and future of this fascinating part of inner city Sydney. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone remotely interested in architecture, urban planning, art, storytelling or just seeking a local's perspective and connection. Well done Culture Scouts and thank you Greg!

Four of us met our tour guide, Greg, in the foyer of the Old Clare Hotel in Chippendale. Right from the start he had us immersed in the history of this interesting area. We toured around the hotel itself and then moved out into the surrounding laneways, which used to be a sectioned-off area associated with the brewery. The way the area has been redeveloped and revitalised is amazing.
We stopped off at the White Rabbit gallery to see an exhibition by Chinese artists - not really my bag, so Greg and I had a pot of Princess flower tea in the cafe and chatted while we waited for the others.
Greg showed us a lot of the amazing street art in the area and we visited another gallery showcasing emerging artists. More architecture and then on to Redfern, where we learnt about the history of the indigenous people in the area and the controversy surrounding new developments going in.
Greg's local insight was invaluable and the whole tour was fascinating and entertaining. Our tour also included a tea or coffee, which was welcome, and a funky calico bag.
I'd thoroughly recommend this tour for anyone interested in history, architecture and indigenous issues (all three for me!) and it's a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.
