I heartily recommend the apartment I had - in the photo, orange walls, white tile floor - if you're planning on a longish stay and have passable Spanish. I was there six-plus weeks. The desk was great for work, with space to spread out. I shared a semi-private outside door onto Francisco Madero a bit lower down hill than Remescal. Unlike the apt I've had in the past - huge and charming section of a colonial home – this apt doesn't get frigid (though wool for top and bottom is good to have in San Cris); skylights in the kitchen and bathroom give great light; the shower's got constant water pressure and good hot water, and because there's no fireplace, you don't experience the scent of decades-worth of other people's fires.
I was initially dismayed by the distance from the center of town. Six of those blocks are monster-blocks. (Though taxis are plentiful, and there's a collectivo stop around the corner.) I was teaching at a women's org. a comparable distance on the far side ... mehr
