My wife and I stayed at Menet for a week in April 2014. The accommodation is fairly basic, but there's everything you need, including a well equipped kitchen, quick internet access, TV, etc. The best thing about Menet though is its location by the river Tardoire about a mile outside Montbron (see the photos I've attached). We spent much time sitting in the garden or in the "bar" just reading or simply gazing at the river and watching the wildlife. There's also a lovely walking trail that starts near the house and runs along the river.
As I mentioned earlier, it's about a mile into Montbron from Menet and my wife and I walked back and forth a few times during our stay (hi-vis vests and a torch are highly recommended if you're going to tackle it at night, as we did a couple of times).
