I stay in the Embarcadero area of San Francisco very regularly on business and have tried many hotels in the vicinity of the landmark building. This one has very much disappointed me, particularly after reading the reviews. I was expecting a small room which is fine if you are by yourself. But it's not only that the size of the rooms is very, very small, it's that everything in the rooms feels to be misplaced. If the interiour design would be a little better arranged it wouldn't feel so "full" and give you immediate feelings of claustrophobia.
My first room was a joke - not only because of the size but because a heating vent or so (the size of a minivan) was right next to my window and making noise comparable to that of a starting airplane. I called reception and they wanted to bring me keys for another room. After 20 minutes I WENT DOWN TO GET MY NEW KEYS. No apologies, the receptionist said: "Oh, great you are coming down, I was about to come to your room". Whatever, I had a 12 hour flight and was not in the mood for a debate on "customer service".
The new room was equally small but slightly less noisy (not completely a peaceful heaven though). I stayed for two days and decided not to return to this hotel EVER again.
