I was truly impressed by this beautiful resort. There was absolutely nothing to complain about - 5 stars! Great staff, great Thai-American management, very tasteful design with attention to the little details that make the difference. I stayed in one of the little wooden huts in the "garden" and found that just fabulous. What really stuck out for me was the efficiency and friendly of the staff. Earlier during my trip, near Phuket, I had had a nasty encounter with a jellyfish. By the time I reached Ko Lanta my arm was badly swollen and I began to worry it might by infected. Management supplied ice for the night and arranged a trip to the hospital in the morning (free of charge), having one of their drivers wait for me there.
Another thing I really want to recommend was the diving school there. "Dive and Relax". In spite of the dumb sounding name their staff and equipment was first class and I got my OWD certificate there. If you're on Ko Lanta, go diving, it's an unforgettable experience.
Of course, the resort rents out motor scooters. Costs are perfectly reasonable and the little machines that I used were all in perfect shape.
I would always be happy to go back again, especially in late season (I was there in April which was a great time to be on the island - weather is still great but most tourists have left).
The only tiny little hair in the soup was that the place was a bit quiet for me - mostly Scandinavian families and couples who stuck to themselves. Aynway - I can wholeheartedly recommend Lanta Castaway.
