A 3 night stay just before Christmas. The hotel is situated in a primarily residential area to the north of the city centre. Relatively easy access from the A52 motorway. The hotel is small in size, but the rooms certainly are NOT!! The smallest double room is about 40 sq m and, as such, is about twice the size of a "normal" hotel room. Very friendly and helpful reception staff; as was the lady in the breakfast room each morning.
For the 3 nights including breakfast AND free parking in the underground garage the total of 184 Euro - for two!- was astounding value for money.
Coffee+ tea in each room, along with a small "kitchen"...two hot plates, a sink and a fridge if needed. Large flat screen tv and a dvd player (unfortunately this refused to "read" our dvd's...but it could have been our inability to use the two remote controls properly!)
The garden looks as if it would be a most pleasant environment to relax or have breakfast at other times of the year. A free coffee machine near reception and a tray of fruit and pastries/cookies was offered whenever we entered or left the hotel.
Breakfast is in a dedicated room and offers more choice than most will ever need....different teas and coffee made to choice; freshly squeezed orange juice (+ other juices); a number of yoghurts; a LARGE variety of Muesli, including Bircher, and accompanying dried fruits or nuts; a variety of breads and pastries; an equally large variety of jams, marmalades and other sweet tooth stuff; hot food = sausages, eggs as wished, bacon etc and a cold plate of cheeses, meats and fish..including a few Sushi. It will be a rare person who cannot satisfy their hunger at this breakfast table. For such a small hotel a most welcome and unexpected ingredient.
The garage parking is fine - once you get over the fact that the passageway down is probably only 2 meters wide and allows very little room either side of the car...slowly and carefully is the motto!
Opposite the hotel is a Grundschule (Primary/Elementary school) and you can hear the children at times...but it is never intrusive....otherwise the hotel surroundings are very quiet.
For getting into the city...the Street Tram 715 from Spichernplatz is about 4 minute walk from the hotel and they leave every 10 minutes. 2,30 € a single ticket on the tram...but buy a 4er ticket for 8,40 if you will need 4 tickets for the return journey. 9-10 minute ride to Heinrich Heine Allee and you are in the main shopping/museum/Altstadt area.
Great value for money and a hotel that we will use again next time we visit Düsseldorf.
