Accessible museum (lift and step free access), small but lots of interesting exhibits, fascinating local history and would be fun for children too.

I thoroughly recommend this museum. It is a bit off the central Teignmouth beaten track but well worth the visit. Delightful ladies in charge who could not have been more helpful and they even brought pre-paid tea and biscuits to the roof terrace for us. This building is a bit like the Tardis but do not be fooled, it is crammed with interest and every wall surface is covered with interesting, historical information. One floor is obviously a work in progress as it contained little else than an early bone shaker wooden bicycle. Not a visit to be skimmed through, you really have to take your time so not to miss anything. Seems to cover everything from aviation, local history, seafaring and much, much more. Entry £5 per adult with free returns for a year, a lift, refreshments and extremely clean toilets.

We really enjoyed our visit, and would recommend for all ages . Friendly knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers . Well presented , interesting items ,so much to look at, and all Teignmouth / Shaldon related, which appeals to visitors and locals alike. Do pop in and explore , easy to find as across the road from the train station 👍

The Teignmouth museum is a wonderful little place. The very small admission charge allows you entry for a year, and children are free (when with an adult)! The history of the town is clear, organised, attractive and engaging. There is plenty for children to see and do, including colouring and a really cute Punch & Judy puppet show. The ladies volunteering there are very friendly and informative and welcoming of children too. I would say it'd be reasonable to spend an hour or two there but there is ever so much to learn!

I am 61. Lived in Teignmouth all my life, as my Son and Daughter have.
Speaking for myself I never tire of it, the fact my Son and Daughter still live here reflects the same.
When your stood at the mouth of the River, you look up the Estuary or at the Channel.
You are very close to Torquay, Plymouth and Exeter. Brixham and the Dart valley railway are very close as is Paignton.
You are lookind over at Dartmoor and very close to Widdecombe.
I myself will spend the rest of my life here, it never ceases to bring a new experience.
Highly recommended.
Restaraunts, pubs, chip shops and takeaways and tea shops abound.
Lovely play area on the Seafront and open air Lido.
It works for me and my family.
When I ask visitors to the Town why they visit, they nearly always reply, they feel like they've lived here forever, and visit again and again.
Try it for yourself, I dont think you'll be dissapointed.

Well worth your time to visit this very fine summary of local lore. Video screens could be larger, a map up top to show you where you are looking, and some copies of the great GWR posters for sale would be great improvements. Volunteer staff lovely.

Amazing little gem of a museum run by very helpful and engaging volunteers well worth the £2.50 entrance fee. Lots of historical artifacts and photos and very funny description of the early sea bathing when visitor's were forcibly dipped in the sea before being encouraged to drink sea water to "cure their ailments"
