I needed a day away from the hustle and bustle of Nashville and Mansker's Station which sits within the boundaries of Moss-Wright Park was the perfect escape. (20 minute drive north) Lots of green space, a 2 mile shaded walking trail around the edge of the park and an informative tour (thanks Sarah!) made for a nice afternoon out. One thing to note is that while there doesn't seem to be much written historical records from the land owners at the time, Sarah was able to provide context of what life would have been like back then. Imagine wood being virtually your only building resource. Even nails were made out of wood until a blacksmith came to join the community of settlers. The tour left me pondering the hardships of our predecessors and left me feeling blessed the I live in today's world. FYI, there's LOTS of space for children to run or throw a ball around after the tour.

Mansker station was interesting. It does cost for the tour of both the fort and the house. Which is one of the oldest brick houses in the state I think the gentleman said. We had been meaning to go for a while and finally did and it was a good tour. We should have went sooner but the gentleman who gave us a tour did a good job. Its in a park so you could just look at both with no charge but to tour you have to pay. The museum/ visitors center had a interesting collection of items just related to the general area. We went back after the tours to kind of looking around at that but we wouldnt have missed much had we not that isnt the focal point. Lots of free parking.

Excellent tour. From the first minute we stepped into the visitor center... everyone was welcoming and helpful. Our tour guide took his time and explained the fort, the people who lived there and then on to the house... Another great example of restoration. Thank you to the City or County for taking charge and making this an excellent place to visit.

Mansker's Station, just north of Nashville, a few miles off I65, consists of a reproduction 1779 log cabin and the Bowen Plantation House, said to be the longest standing brick structure in Middle Tennessee. The staff dress in clothing from that era. What's nice about Mansker's is that it's not a tourist trap. The fee for a tour runs between $6 to $8. The gift shop has plenty of neat souvenirs, useful items, candles, jewelry, games and toys for children, tee-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts, to name a few. The area also has a 3-mile long walking trail alongside the river, with beautiful scenery, a dog park, a children's playground, and an area to ride bikes. Highly recommended for those who don't like crowds.

Michele, Thank you for sharing the good news about Historic Mansker's Station and the beauty of Moss-Wright Park. We hear quite often the description of the "hidden gem" found here in Goodlettsville. This is exactly how you have described it too. Thanks again!

My parents, husband, and I stopped here on a whim and we are glad we did! The staff were very kind and welcoming and our tour guide Pete was great! We all love history and we were not disappointed! Pete taught us a lot about the station and black smithing and carpentry that I had no idea about. The gift shop has some great stuff in there too! Im so glad we stopped!

We are thrilled that you stopped by and took the time to provide feedback! We will share your review with Pete. If you are in the area again, we hope you will visit and say hello. You never know what additional items the gift shop may have that you must take home! Thank you again.

We visited the Fort on 7/13/19. Everyone, from the lady at the front desk to the tour guides, were friendly and knowledgeable. My husband loved seeing everything at the fort, and the guide was really interesting and knew what he was talking about. The woman who guided us through the Bowen Big House also knew what she was talking about and made it all very interesting. We missed any of the live demonstrations, but will likely go back another time to see more. Great exhibit of Tennessee history!

My husband and I loved this personal tour. It was only $7 each (senior rate) and our guide, Pete, was awesome! The fort and the Bowen House were like something from old movies, but this was fascinating with history shared by Pete. I highly recommend.

Apparently the mansion is the oldest brick building in Tennessee and it is a joy to see. But I just loved the fort more, best thing I saw of it's kind ever. There were woodworkers making spoons en other items. The buildings inside the fort were great to watch and the interior was fantastic. I highly recomend it to anyone interested in the days of the pioneers.

On our tour of the fort, there was a demonstration of a blacksmith working, a gentleman making wooden spoons.
There was a group of very polite school children having fun learning about the fort during our visit, so we chose not to go into a couple of buildings.
The house was under some construction, but did not interfere with the tour.
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and he gave us time to ask questions about the fort and the house.

Visited while in the area. Nice historical site. Very small. Wish there was a concession area though.
