Too bad that access has been blocked. Access to the top was always rewarded by the view. Due to improper behavior by Some people this site is lost to those who love to go for a short walk in the woods.

Tried to get to a trailhead on New Way Lane but area is posted as no parking. Looks like the signs were made by the locals and if you were to try, they would call the police or take matters into their own hands. There is a road to the reservoir and from looking at a topo map you would want to keep those ponds south of you and keep a 250 to 255 degrees on a compass to get near the summit. I doubt there are any visible trails left from the 70's and I don't know if the summit is overgrown but I Read that is was a great view "in the day" I would not try this alone in case you get hurt, or in the summer when the trees have leaved out. Also, if you don't have bushwacking or compass experience, this trip would not be for you. It's really too bad that town conservation land cannot be accessed because it is landlocked.

I've always wanted to visit this site, but as reported before, the parking area on Rt. !28 N has been blocked for decades. Originally conceived when Rt. 128 was a way to visit Gloucester instead of taking the train or the beautiful but very slow Rt. 127, this and the A. Piatt Andrew bridge had pull-offs to enjoy the natural beauty of Gloucester. The pull-off on the bridge is only used by construction crews (almost continuous for the last five years of rebuilding) because you'd get killed by the traffic today. But I digress...
The only entrance is up a long pretty much driveway of New Way Lane off of Rt. 133. This leads up to a reservoir, and I'm not sure there is any place to park.
I will edit this if I get up that way, but this is not one of the popular destinations in Gloucester. I'd recommend paying your respects to Howard Blackburn across the street from New Way Lane at the Beechbrook Cemetery. If you don't know who Howard Blackburn is, look him up--he's a fascinating character from Gloucester's past.

Mount Ann used to be accessible from route 128 with a small parking area. years ago the parking was eliminated so access is a long walk through the woods. if you like hiking than this is a place to explore

Nice place before the highway dept blocked the parking lot years ago! Great place for a walk or light hike back then.
